Wide awake at 4am so have come down for a cuppa. Rosie, I've been watching Lucy Worsley on a Friday night narrate the story of Agatha Christie's early life too. It's really interesting isn't it? I think the last episode in the series is next Friday, BBC2 at 9pm.ย I also thoroughly ย enjoyed watching the Winter Special of Gardeners World last night too..It was so nice to watch a gardening programme again. No spoilers.
Good morning early bird Hazel and everyone jining in later. Yesterday was a super day - meeting up with all the quiz team and having a wonderful lunch. Friend from Crewe and I are going to visit the OH of one of friends who passed away a few years ago. Its the man I visited earlier this year - the one with the orchard full of heritage apples and pears.
Debs, a rat as a pressie - how lovely Thank goodness Lily is too old for any of that sort of thing now.
Hazel, I am with you re driving in the dark. I will do it if I really have to but given the choice - no way! Its even worse if it is raining as well! I have lots of bulbs popping up in my garden too. Seems a bit early. Friend and I watched the GW special - no spoilers from me but I have to say Winter Special was rather a misnomer and I am getting rather tired of his repetitive lasagne bulb planting.
Well done Red on all your efforts to get the church looking festive for the Christmas Fayre - I still use that expression of seeing enough blue sky to make a pair of sailor's trousers. Maybe its a northern thing?
Busy, I think that your precious rose will survive for you. They are remarkable plants for recovering.
Good to see you Rosie. I saw the trailer for the Agatha Christie programme - it looked like an interesting one. Hope you don't have any long term effects from your jab yesterday.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hazel, thank you for no spoiler about GW. I always can watch it one day after. It's nice that you spent few hours in the garden yesterday.
LB, I'm glad that you had marvelous day with Quiz friends. Wish you and your friend safe journey to this man. It's such a nice thing to do, especially at this time.
After few hours spent at cottage and woods yesterday I slept extremely well and get up just now. This morning is again very windy and cold. At least we have sunshine. First cup of tea, then whole day just rest. I may bake biscuits with star anise. I bought few days ago in Zagreb. Recipe sounds lovely.ย
Good morning Ante. I wish we just had a glimmer of sun but no - its grey and dreary. One good point though - it isn't raining! Those biscuits sound nice Ante. Star anise is such a lovely spice.

Good morning everyone . I am very late up this morning.LB I am so pleased that you had a good time at your festive lunch . Your friends husband will appreciate your visit .Enjoy your day .ย
Hazel sorry to read that you woke so early .Take it easy today .Thosepics are lovely .keep warm,it looks extremely cold where you are Ante .
Morning all. ย Have a restful day Hazel. ย Yes I found the programme interesting, Iโll look forward to next weeks final instalment. ย LB Iโm glad you had a lovely time and enjoyed visiting. ย Ante lovely snowy pictures, wrap up and have a warming drink when you arrive home. ย Writing out Christmas cards today. ย Enjoy your day all.
Morning all. I, too, watched the programme about Agatha Christie with Lucy Worsley presenting and found it very interesting. I saw last weeks programme too, and look forward to the final one next week. Thank you for no spoilers regarding Gardeners World as Iโll be watching it on catch up today. Looking forward to it. Going to help at the Christmas fayre later and must wrap up warmly again - the church is an old stone building, takes ages to heat and I suspect it wonโt be very warm in there today as weโre trying to keep the heating bills down. Iโm helping on a stall near the door, too ๐ฏ. At least the sun is shining today - much more blue sky visible, plenty to make a whole company of sailors trousers ๐. That snow looks very cold @Ante1. Iโm rather glad we donโt have any yet, though chillier and more wintry weather is forecast for later next week. Hope everyone has a good day.
Not just a Northern saying @Ladybird4, we used to say that about blue skies and sailor's trousers when I grew up in Surrey.
Cold and grey outside but not as cold as @Ante1's photos look!
I watched Gardeners World last night, recorded Strictly then Agatha Christie.
The piano tuner is here. It's hard to find a piano tuner nowadays. This one comes from the other side of Bergerac, over an hour's drive away. OH's piano hasn't been tuned since I moved here in January 2021.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. Ante, I was ย frozen looking at those pictures brrrr! Wrap up cosy and take care when out walking. Red Maple, you wrap up warm too, I know what these old draughty churches are like, they're stone cold even with the heating on. I'm from Up North too but I've never happened that saying. I now live on the other side of Up North but still haven't heard it๐ Good one. LB, glad you had a wonderful day yesterday, it's always nice to catch up with friends and have some good food. Ddidnt sleep too well when I returned ย to bed but, no worries, 23 and son are coming for a visit later on and we have to pop to local SM smartish ,before then. So have a good day everyone. Rosie, hope you've got no side effects from the jab today. Take care.
