Been AWOL for a bit - some home 'renovations', far too much r-a-a-f (including Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and 4hrs yesterday ), volunteering, etc.
Getting more wintery here - dank, wet and grim. I've even started wearing long pants and putting the heating on occasionally!
SM, library and bank this morning and then an afternoon following events in the Middle East.
Good afternoon all. Gosh but its dark, windy and dismal here. Shopping was a strange experience. When I arrived the car park was relatively empty and the store was similar but it gradually started to get busier and when I left the car was packed. This is most unusual for a Monday. I reckon they had all rushed out so they could get back for the Middle East event Biglad has alluded to.
Good to see you Biglad. I was a tad worried that the CA had swallowed you whole!
Gosh Hazel, frost! Not had any here as yet but it is cold and I have my heating on. I walked up the lane to order some mince pies from the pie shop situated there, that I will take to my last Canasta session next month. The wind was bitterly cold so I was glad to get back home to hug a mug.

LB, hope you bought everything from your list, and few extras. My sister works in office of one German SM, and she said that last weekend was the busiest so far this year, and that didn't expect such earnings.ย
Hazel, sorry to hear about frost. My furnace is in use several days.
It turned to be very nice day. Little bit crisp, but sunny and no more wind. I was tiding my front garden from everything what wind brought. My cats decided to help me, but on their own way. Pet food and book are delivered, but still nothing about waterlily. I should contact them once more.ย ย
We went out for lunch today, to an old stone restaurant in a pretty little village about 15 mins away. The owner who served us was funny and friendly and his wife was the cook. It was simple, good French food, 3 courses and coffee for 15โฌ50 each. I think we'll be going back there again.
Then we went to buy some crackers in a shop rather like Wilko, the only place I've found around here that sells crackers, but they won't be in until December.

Hello there Busy. Gosh that picture brings back lovely memories for me. I'm guessing the crackers you are speaking about are those you pull rather than having with cheese?
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
My dear friends. I am going to take a few days out. I will give a brief explanation. On 28th August 2021 I received a text from my youngest brother in Perth, Australia to say he had had a seizure. To cut a long story short, after various procedures it was discovered he had a brain tumour and this last year and a bit he has gone through all sorts as they tried to combat the cancer. His son in Sydney was due to get married next year but they were able to bring the wedding forward and last month, my brother with assistance, managed to get across to be there. I spoke with him last week on November 14th and knew he was fading. Last Friday he went into a Hospice. Just after signing out last night I learned that the inevitable had happened.
I'm telling you this now as I know many of you have your own difficulties to cope with, but I want to thank you all most sincerely, because although you didn't realise it, your banter, your anecdotes and your joyous pictures have held me together through this last year. I will be back, just need a few days. x

I am so sorry to hear your news @Ladybird4. You always sound cheerful, but you must have been going through a worrying time. Australia is so far away. Sending hugs and sympathy.
