I hope the new curtain is successful @Red maple. I've recently changed the thin sitting room curtains from the previous owner to thicker velvet ones.
Good luck with driving in Zagreb @Ante1. I hate driving in big towns.
My parcel was delivered today. Same man who couldn't find my house yesterday. He rang, said they hadn't told him my number yesterday. When I opened the parcel, English groceries for my 4 children who all live in France, several things were broken, Branston pickle, Hoisin sauce, pickled onions lids damaged. Luckily they had wrapped everything in separate plastic bags but there were some leakages and damage. I don't think tea bags would taste nice with pickle on them! I've sent an email with a photo. The Marmite and Bovril were OK, I think the glass is tough. I think it was the delivery company's fault, box marked fragile had been thrown about.
We did some Christmas shopping this afternoon to add to all that. I'm doing a hamper for each of my children this year, English food and Dordogne food. I bought duck and thyme patรฉ made in the village next door and walnuts covered in chocolate and walnut biscuits. Walnuts are grown a lot in Dordogne. I did hampers for them last year for the first time and it was very successful.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
LB, it's nice that you spent few hours in the garden. It's very pleasant to have you back here.ย It's no big problem to drive to his apartment, because is it just few km from highway exit. But to reach cemetery will be challenging. It's all over the city, and road leads thru city center. ๐ But I hope all will be ok.
Bussy, sorry to hear that several item were broken. It seems that you also have problems with delivery.ย
I already planted rhizome and it's look healthy with some new buds. Usually it comes already planted in small pot, but this one was just cut of from main plant and wrapped in plastic bag. For 30โค it must be better. 30โค is 263 HRK (our currency)๐. From January 1st we will introduce euro.
Crumbs Ante, that is a lot of money for a little rhizome, thank goodness there are signs of new growth. Your neighbour was a near neighbour and will be missed. It would be nice for his wife and daughter to move near you too. Hope all goes well next week. Busy, those hampers sound good, I was thinking of that for mum but it would be wasted. LB, the fresh air and exercise will have done you good and freshened the mind....as well as doing a good job in the garden! We have thick heavy curtains at most of our main windows, always have had really as I like to feel cosy inside the house.ย Have ย done plenty of indoor jobs this afternoon so am tired now, so I'm going to sign out early today. Have a nice evening everyone. Catch you all later.ย
Red maple, that curtain sounds just the job and the draught excluding extra length will be very efficient. Is it just me but once upon a time you could go to shops such as BHS and buy pairs of ready made curtains in the drop and width that you required. For my window I cannot find ANY ready made. I will need to have them made to measure I think. How very annoying.
Busy, such a shame to read about the damage in your parcel. Definitely signs of it being mistreated. I remember you making up the hampers last year.
Ante, puno ti hvala . Goodness me but I agree with Hazel that is a very expensive little rhizome but it's good that you can see some buds on it and with your TLC it should settle well.
I am going to sign out for today as I am going to watch the Football. You all know I am a rugby union fan but I do like to watch England in the World Cup.
It is good to be back x
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
