Good morning everyone .Ante be careful trimming back your tree if it’s still windy . LB enjoy your day at the food bank and at Besties. Busy I did similar with my metal arch ,it hasn’t moved .Enjoy your coffee .
Morning all. Wind has dropped off overnight, thankfully but we are left with an almighty mess in garden now, it's so disheartening.OH has said he will go out and clear everything up after we've been to SM. Thansk for advice about archway folks, but the arch is secured into the soil with long pegs and all sorts my OH put in the secure it into the ground. Its pushed well down into the ground too. It's the top pieces, they sway like mad in the wind when there is foliage on them, ( stops the wind going through. )We seem to be in a wind trap where our house is. We're not in a straight line with neighbouring houses, being in a cul de sac our neighbours at the back of us are all at wonky angels to our house and we have a wonderful wind tunnel down one side of the house. The back garden takes the brunt of all the wind, always. So, now we know, we will have to plant accordingly.I'm just not in the right mood at the moment to do anything.
LB, some of your customers are going to get some lovely little surprises today from your little knitted offerings. What a nice thought.
Hello everyone. Fiancé has come home with a dreadful cough and high temperature so I didn’t get much sleep last night early night for me I think. Dry here all day but definitely colder.
Good evening debs. Sorry to hear that your fiancé is nit well. Hope you both will have restful night.
I done all what I planed in the garden and spent most of the day reading. If you don't know how heavy is blackbird nest I can tell you. Well my shoulder can. Old nest fell from the tree on me. I photographed evidence if you want to see. 😂 Now is time for tv, Poirot will soon start.
Good evening all. Well what a day I have had. Firstly on the way to pick up Bestie I encountered THREE sets of roadworks and temporary traffic lights which made me late. Luckily I was able to phone her from my car (dead clever these new cars!) so that she didn't worry I was not turning up. We weren't too late to the Food Bank. Shortly after I arrived, I got a phone call from Jack's daughter to tell me that Kitty was not well at all and they were taking her to the Vet's. I was very saddened to hear this and as things developed I learned that the Vet thought she may have had a stroke. To cut a long story short, they could have an MRI scan on her for a mere £3000. Naturally they didn't want to stress her any more than was necessary and I secretly thought that with a bill like that, I wouldn't want to be stressed any more either! I rang Jack once I was home and Kitty had been eating and drinking her water but I knew he was upset. She is getting near to 20 years old now and, like Lily, is a grand old lady. I tried to stay positive and told Jack that if she was eating and drinking that was a good sign. We do love our furry friends don't we?
The nativity set went down well - strange reaction though 'Oooh you knitted a baby Jesus as well!' Duh! Would it be a nativity set with a male figure who, as Busy commented, looked like a bloke with a balaclava on and a fat lady sitting down? I hardly think so! The other knitted things went down well too.
Debs, I too am sorry that your fiancé has got a bad cold. Hope he shakes it off quickly.
Ante YES - I would love to see your blackbird nest injury that has got to be a first!
Enjoy your Earl Grey and Poirot
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good evening everyone from Munster in Germany. Good ferry crossing yesterday but we didn't get to our camping spot until nearly 10pm. We were up at 5.30am so a long day.
Today has been much more laid back. we've been in a family run spa / sauna complex all day and most of the evening. Have been heated, steamed and poached and now feeling very relaxed. Moving on to Wernigerode tomorrow in the Harz mountains - looks very picturesque and we might get to go up the Brocken in a mountain train. Depends on the weather.
We're renting a small studio flat there for 3 nights. The little camper has no insulation at all and is great from April to October and ok for the odd night over winter - but it's not ideal for longer cold weather trips. The bedding feels permanently cold and damp for one thing and early morning trips to the loo are not great! We'll then be renting a (heated) camping cabin just outside Leipzig for another 3 nights. It's very low season here so the 'nicer' accomodation is adding less than £50 to our holiday bill over what we would have spent in campsite fees. Money well spent I hope!
Well done to all you knitters. Scarves, blankets and seasonal decos - you are a clever lot 🙂
Glad to hear your little puss cat had a clean bill of health Ante but sorry to read about Kitty LB. Very sad.
BL - what a nightmare journey to France. Connecting rail links are never great are they? I think it's ridiculously difficult to get to Stansted by public transport.
Debs - hope your OH feels better soon. Has he done a Covid test.....?
Hazel - hope you feel better soon too. Take it easy for a few days.
Hope the rest of you are all ok. Sleep well.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
LB, you have had a busy day and a fraught journey too.Sad to hear about Jacks little cat but she is a good age, in animal years, and ill health can/does come along with that. It's good that she is eating an drinking well. I'm glad we made the decision not to have any more cats when our last one had to be euthanised but then I became allergic to them so never had any more. Too much upset and emotional ties when the inevitable happens. Glad to hear your knitted offerings went down well ( in the main!). Topbird, nice to hear from you and your day sounds absolutely delightful and relaxing and restful. Hope you continue to have a wonderful time and the booked accommodation sounds ideal. Debs, hope your fiancée recovers soon from his ailments. Not nice for him, hope it's nothing too incapacitating for him.
Just wanted to add that I do hope @Yviestevie is okay. We haven't heard from her for ages now.🤞🤞
Another early start for me. I slept very well and I'm well rested, but it will be day to stay indoor. It's finally raining.
LB, you had very busy day yesterday. Sorry to hear about Jack's cat.
Have a nice time in Germany T'bird.
Evidence No. 1. It's made all of mud, branches and grass, must have around 1 kg. I'm going to burn it, because blackbirds don't use them again, and it can have some pests, so it must be destroyed.
