Hazel, sorry to hear that it's so cold where you are. I have completely different situation.
I spent few wonderful hours in the garden, and now have tea break. Garden now looks much tidier, and my new shredder is tested, and it's work perfectly. I also took dozen coleus cuttings and clear little pond. Water lily was too big.ย ย
Afternoon everyone. Hazel it is our most nightmarish weather just now. The wind is battering down and not in its usual direction. At one stage the rain on the kitchen window sounded like hailstones it was so strong. It has been so dark all day as well. Once I'd got the cake fruit underway, I decided to knit some mini stockings.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
It's been a lovely day today. We had lunch on the terrace. I've done some weeding this afternoon but there is more to do. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, but the garden could do with more rain.
This morning we went to the SM and the fridge is full of goodies. Sea Bass tonight.

Ante, enjoy the warm weather, wish we had some warmth. LB, yes, you're right, it's horrible outside. We've had big gusty blasts of wind, so much so that our new archway now has started rocking and swaying from side to side. We've made the sad decision that the clematis montana isn't the right plant to be growing up there, too robust and the archway too unstable,to carry ย the weight against the winds. We will dig it out tomorrow. I felt really quite sad this afternoon as I do love the lovely flowers and their glorious displays....daft, I know. Going to take some time now to think about what we can plant there for interest but no climbers.ย Busy, glad you're stocked up now, enjoy the fish tea.
Ante enjoy your warm weather. ย Itโs been rather wet and blustery here. ย Hazel hope yourewarming up with layers. ย LB hope you and Lily are doing well and that you enjoy Besties party. ย Lily sending best wishes. ย Busy enjoy your time at home. ย Enjoy your evening everyone. ย Top bird hope you and Mr T are doing well. ย Biglad donโt work too hard.
Hi Rosie, good to see you. Yes, we are layering up every day now. It's so cold but trying to keep busy and warm. Hope Alfie is doing alright. I am signing out for today. Enjoy the evening. Night all.
Hello Rosie. Lovely to see you. Lily is lying snoring next to me - little cat snores which are not too disturbing. I have finished knitting 3 mini stockings and a gingerbread man. I might sneak them into bags at the Food Bank tomorrow morning.
Hazel, you could grow some nice, tall perennials by your arch and they will then have a permanent support you can attach them to.
I am signing out for tonight - early start tomorrow. Fingers crossed the wind dies down. Night night all.

Rosie, it's nice to see you. Hope you and OH are well.
Hazel, sorry that you must dig out clematis. Can you fix the arch to the soil with something like tent pins, or dig in 20-30 cm into the soil, just to make it more stable?
LB, have a nice day at Food Bank. Those little knitted presents will be lovely surprise. Hope that wind is gone by now.
Windy morning here too. It's not cold and I can see sunshine. I'll trim my thuja occidentalis today. Beautiful tree, but huge. I used to decorate it for Christmas, but now is impossible due to it's height.ย
A very good morning Ante and all to arrive later. It has stopped raining - for now - and the wind has dropped. I'm pleased about that, as it is paper and cardboard bins that are due to be emptied today and the vision of all of those blown about, spilling their contents would be a nightmare. Eek just heard the 'frost' word mentioned for tonight.

Hazel, I have a metal rose arch that didn't seem very stable. I banged in some metal fence posts on each side and wired them to the sides of the arch. It didn't move in the hail tornado we had in June that destroyed people's rooves.
Having coffee in bed. No real plans. Forecast is rain this afternoon. May do something wth a yellow cloth indoors.
