  • Hope you're both ok @Pat E.

    Very quiet on here today.

My friend has had a successful hip replacement operation today, 1st one downto the operating theatre, all good. Amazing what they can do these days.

I've had an ongoing saga with a very determined mouse these last few days, he keeps poking up his head in the cutlery drawer, after bleaching everything several times over, having all obvious holes blocked off and lots of mouse poison put down, he reappeared yet again this evening. It seems he'd been blocked in rather than blocked out, and was living quite happily in the cling film roll - not any more though, he leapt out tonight and scurried into the downstairs loo.... The door is shut and I'm awaiting the cat's return.... we'll see....

Gosh, @D0rdogne_Damsel, how on earth did he get in the cutlery tray!!

I thought I was very brave on Saturday night because I went to bed knowing that a very large spider was hiding under the chest of drawers! Took me ages to drop off to sleep but I did sleep in the end. Sprayed the carpets with antibacterial spray which hopefully will keep it away.

More pottering about today, more leaf clearing after torrential rain last night, still trying to kill off the Jap.Anemone before my new rose arrives and trimmed the NDN's hedge back from our drive - it's a spiky one.

My sister held a very successful Macmillan Coffee day, 9 afternoon teas were booked, 20 odd people, mix of villagers and friends, turned up and she collected over £200. Various friends helped with cake making and tea making so a good afternoon. I was sorry she lives too far away for me to go.

I'm not too bad with spiders @Lizzie27, luckily.  Just think of all the little tiny flies that spider is eating up!  That said, I wouldn't want one on me.  We have lots of cellar spiders in the house - the ones with the very tiny bodies and very thin legs.  They make cobwebs at a rate of knots.  When we had the kitchen built - a brand new kitchen with new walls, new floor, new ceiling, everything, two of them took up residence even before the units had been fitted.
Strange day today - I think I've overdone it on watching the BBC news channel.

Hi Forkers.  No progress here, but we went out the back for more firewood today. Hubby did it all and I lounged in the Ute. I’m still short of breath, but otherwise seem ok.

    bestwishes to everyone.

Rain is predicted, luckily we got a trailer full of wood to keep us going.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
good to see you @Pat E … glad you’re both on the mend, but do take it very easy 🤗
6C here but warming and brightening up … it was a bit foggy first thing.
I’m heading to see Wonky later today to do over her books and tax return stuff with her. Two brains and two pairs of eyes are better than one 😊

  • Good morning all,

Glad to see you @Pat E

Lovely morning here, very pretty view across the fields whilst eating breakfast.

Trying to have a day off but still an Apple Pie and a Bakewell tart to get done before I can take a break, I've no idea why, but Monday was an extremely busy day. We did have a small funeral party booked, but then a table of 14 arrived from or local Zen Monastery, then so did the rest of the world, or so it seemed.

Anyway, hope to catch up later.

    Good day all.

Lovely to see you @Pat E - hope the recovery continues.  Slowly does it.

Enjoy your visit @Dovefromabove (in spite of the paperwork - you’ve reminded me I need to get mine sorted).

Mr C now has a shiny new hip.  He stayed in hospital overnight but they expect to send him home today.  I’ve cleared my diary for a couple of weeks so that I can be nurse.

Autumn colours out the window are looking amazing.  Apple harvest (huge this year) is in. Pumpkins and squash are colouring nicely.  Trying to keep my focus there rather than on the TV/device screens. 🍎🎃🍂🍁🍄
  • Good morning everyone,  nice bright start here. Good to hear from @Pat E, hope you both recover fully.
We are going into town later to a recording of 3 of  the BBC podcasts.  For those that don't know they have a newscast, which was Brexitcast for a long time , and now an American and Ukraine one. All news and political comments.  We only watch the version shown on a Thursday evening,  but they are on BBC sounds other times.  All part of the BBC 100 years celebrations.

Enjoy … but rather you than me @Allotment Boy … I’m doing my best to keep my exposure to news and political comment to a minimum … otherwise there’s a real danger that I might explode 🤯🤬🤬🤬

Best wishes to Mr @chicky for a speedy return to normal 👍
