    Morning everyone.

Just took a coffee outside and a heron was on the grass! We saw it yesterday too. We have a pond but only one fish in it (or was). We did have 6 grass carp/koi carp when we moved in but they died last year when we had a heat wave followed by a storm. The local fox had a feast.  To be honest, it’s less work and less need to have the pumps on now it’s just a pond as you can’t really keep fish in a wildlife pond.

    Have a pleasant Sunday all.

Meant to ask you @D0rdogne_Damsel about the carrot and apple cake you said about...May I be cheeky and ask for the recipe please?

Morning all, another bright sunny morning here so must get going and do more leaf clearing and hang out yet more washing to dry.
I'm a bit disappointed, just tried a new recipe for microwaveable breakfast muffins involving mashed banana, egg, oats, milk and cinnamon, watched them rise in the m/w then they deflated, so not sure what I did wrong. We still ate them though with a cup of coffee!

Is there any of that sticky toffee pudding cake left @D0rdogne_Damsel?  Sounds heavenly!
Sounds like you had a very rewarding day @busy-lizzie.  And you @punkdoc.
I had an eye test yesterday.  There is a slight problem with the retina in my left eye (nothing to do with the zig zag migraine auras I was getting a little while ago).  The letters on the chart were jumping about a bit when I was asked to read them with that eye.  So I have to go to their main branch next week for a scan.  Bit worrying.  And just before the Food & Drink Festival at the weekend.
On which - we had a write up in the local paper - did you see it @Dovefromabove?

    I did @didy … brilliant article 😎

I wonder if @Hostafan1 could be tempted … he certainly raved about the Baron Bigod 😋

    🤞 for your eye 🤗

Beautiful day, managed to lift the first few Cannas, but got tired out very quickly. But it's a start.

    Hello all.

I'm helping at a village craft fair refreshments next Saturday. I'm donating an apple spice fruit cake. On Sunday we are going to see a new friend of OH's stained glass so I won't be going to @didyw's food fair. I enjoyed the plant fair earlier in the year though.

Yay! I've finished weeding all round the garden - all 15 flower beds! I think it's taken me the best part of a month and is probably time to start again with the first one. I've actually abandoned no. 16 in the orchard and will let it revert to grass. The others aren't so easy so decisions, decisions.

Hope your eye is okay @didyw. Fingers crossed.

Little and often is sometimes best @Punkdoc. I get tired quicker than I used to so only do an hour, maybe 2 at a time.

  • Good afternoon, I have been on the patio putting up the winter protection for the Lemons.  I have to say that in full sun with no wind it was very warm and seems a little unnecessary,  but we have already had single figure night temperatures so it's best to be prepared.
On the less good side, one of our travelling friends has tested pos for Covid,  her hubby is negative, and so are we at the moment. Fingers very crossed it stays that way. 🤞

  • Thanks @Dovefromabove, they had their booster a month ago, we had ours just over 2 weeks before the trip, because of the train strikes they came to London 2days before we departed,  maybe she picked it up then.
