Your roses are looking great Marlorena and so neat and ready in their beds.
I am looking forward to your Lady of the Lake MrVineEyes as I may find a spot for one, yours is looking good.
I'll make a better mental note of my ORA next time I go out Eustace, I'm not sure mine is as advanced as yours.
What a shame about your Love Song WAMS, I'll show you mine and we can be LoveSong Freshers together this year. Mine was from TCL late Dec. I potted it 1st Jan and just transplanted it a week ago (yes I know! Yes I did disturb some new white roots)My furthest on potted rose is the unknown white floribunda but I have several nearly at the same stage. In ground Velvet Fragrance holds the leadWith Bathsheba the furthest on climber
Somebody asked about Cutie Pie, I can't count that one as it has been evergreen.Gosh isn't it cold again? I'll be fleecing some plants tomorrow.
All of your roses appear to be 2 - 3 weeks further on than mine, most of which are just barely out of bud break. My most advanced are Kew Gardens, Blush Noisette and Gruss an Aachen I agree Tack, it's perishing here too. ETA, just realised that these 3 are located in my courtyard garden, which is a little more sheltered. Coincidence?
For some reason I could not see the posts from @JessicaS and @cooldoc pictures with regards to Earth Angel Rose. I have two, got it from pococks roses and both are two years old. @Marlorena is correct and it was balling in the rain so I moved one to the pot and another under pergola last year. Because of the dry summer we had both did very well and the bloom colour looked so pure. I love the petal packed deeply cupped blooms, they have strong green apple scent, very healthy and I don’t spray on this rose.
Did not get time for pics.. Fed roses using new DA fertilizer.. colourful pellets looked like a fancy fish food.. exhausted all 3 packs I had and was still left with 4 pots.. what annoyed me was the new large scoop that came with the pack.. instructions were 1/2 scoop for each plant.. now why the hell did they change the scoop? clever marketing? With the older scoop, it was easy to take a full scoop rather than having to keep dropping half back every single time with the new one(unless you grow only climbers).. and you end up adding more than half as you are worried about giving less feed.. time consuming and annoying especially when the weather outside is cold... ok, stopping for now..
Roja, That earth angel looks lovely.. that pale pink centre and cup shape .. will see if it fares better for you this year.. may be once it matures it would ball less?
@Tack - My Bathsheba is second place climber, growth looks similar to yours. Kew Gardens is also quite far along.
im very pleased with Lady of the Lake this year, fingers crossed she doesn’t have a slow down like last year in Spring. I thought she was dying! Not seen any aphids so far this year. Except the woolly ones on my apple tree.
@Tack was me asking about Cutie pie. Mine didnt defoliate either, its very lush! Ive ordered a few more for the sunny bee filled front garden as it was so nice.
Apart from roses in the poly (cheating) my roses are well behind many of yours! They started budding and leafing out, but have since seriously stalled in subsequent cold weather.
I’ve hosted two threads on the trot now so methinks a handover is well overdue. Marlorena if you’re happy to take up the reins again I’m sure Vic Sponge won’t mind in the least, she may well have forgotten we extracted a ‘voluntary’ promise from her 😆
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Yeah, no problem Nollie... in a week or so, it's back to winter here too for now.. I'm surprised your roses are not well ahead of ours, I wasn't expecting that..
'Cutie Pie' fascinates me, cute little thing that..
@Rojas I could put up with balling for a rose like 'Earth Angel'.. what a beauty!
'Bathsheba's looking good too, amongst all the others...
@cooldoc I'm giving that fertilizer a miss, it's expensive too if you don't get it right.. Tesco are selling a nice mulch even though it's Miracle Gro.. but I only needed a single bag.. I will be tipping out my tea bags as well for what it's worth..
