Thanks for the supportive comments everyone. It’s just hard to not stew about things. I’ve already lost my other daughter to ovarian cancer years ago. Best to keep busy.
That doesn't look very good @Hostafan1 - presumably you're eating in this evening? Noah seems very apt in the circumstances but I echo Dove's 'ouch'!
Goodness, very worrying for you @Pat E. Hope it's nothing too serious.
We're back after our day out - 2.15 hours each way so a long day, we left at 10 am this morning. Very enjoyable to see all our old friends again, there were about 40 of us spread out along trestle tables in this very ancient, restored church house with a wooden hammer beam roof. Loads of lovely food and some superb desserts. Now waiting for DIL to arrive who's been doing a charity walk somewhere.
Congratulations on the new grandson @Hostafan1, I am presuming this is from a different son/daughter, because it really doesn't seem that long since the last one??
The rain damage doesn't look good, definitely not something they're prepared for. Our forecast for Corfu is a little rain on Friday, the day we arrive but after that 25, 26 & 27 degrees and sunny.
@Lizzie27 a long day of course, but seems well worth the journey, what a lovely hobby/interest you both have there.
Always interesting to read about each others passions on here. As ever my main activity is cake making, very pleased with this Jamie Oliver recipe today; Marmalade Cake, it was supposed to go in the freezer for when I am away, but the Werther's Caramel Cake I made this morning for the Cake of the Day was gone by 2pm so the Marmalade Cake was wheeled out. I have got a lovely Lemon and Elderflower Cake ready in the freezer and as 'October Rose' starts whilst I am away I am making a Pink Lemonade Cake tomorrow and lots of Pink Cupcakes.
This is my 'template'....
Btw @Busy-Lizzie, I think you are right about Charlie, my friend's daughter goes to the same school, a year above Charlie, and today she told me that Charlie and Amelie are together all the time, but she did say what a lovely girl she is. Funnily enough, her mother is an author and I am holding a book signing/reading event at CdeG in October and she e-mailed me and asked if she could participate. I might end up meeting the mother before the 'girlfriend'.
The restaurant last night was amazing, super menu, super ambiance, very friendly staff, a really nice place, well and truly planned out and beautifully executed, we've all booked for Christmas Day too, it's 5 minutes from home, overlooking a lake, all natural wood and cosy lighting, it's going to be perfect.
Anyway, holiday first before Christmas is thought about..
Absolutely scrumptious looking cakes DD, wish we lived nearer!!
DIL is here, looking shattered. She walked over 20 kilometres today with some of her work colleagues doing the Five Valley walk round the Stroud district for charity. 3000 people turned up, some did a couple of stages and some did the lot. Her watch recorded over 31,000 steps - in one day! Makes me feel tired just thinking about it.

I had lunch with friends and spent the afternoon weeding the veg garden. The earth was soft and moist after the rain.
That sounds like a French lunch @Lizzie27, trestle tables, old building. Glad you enjoyed it.
