Aah thank you so much for the explanation Yvie, for the life of me I couldn't even think what you might have meant. All is clear now. I find giant veg. fascinating too.

@Yviestevie and @Ladybird4 - those last 2 comments made me laugh out loud!! I also couldn't work out what a Giant Vet might be ๐Ÿคฃ

Ante - your little kitty is very pretty. I echo the sentiments that you are such a kind and caring man. I would love you to live next door to me - especially if you make cakes like that one. Another slice here please....

Debs - glad you've enjoyed Yorkshire. I lived in there for 10 years and OH's family are there so it is feels very much like home to me.

Glad you've had some rain BL.

I've been out hacking back more big shrubs ready for the chaps to do the fencing work in 10 days time. It's the sort of thing I'd be doing over the autumn / winter anyway - so just a bit earlier than usual. Trying not to touch anything with berries on it as the birds have a feast over winter.

Evening all. Had a busy afternoon pegging out yesterday's Lily's TV contents. I then did a bit of hacking back too. My targets were the buddlejas I have and there is something very satisfying about removing the branches with all the dead flowers on as they are so easy to prune. I bet your shrubs were much more difficult T'Bird. Made a note to fill up the bird feeders tomorrow. Got all the cloth things in and had just got the whirligig folded up and covered when the rain started - well drizzle at the moment. Got my smug face on here!

I had lunch with friends today and I spent the afternoon in the veg garden weeding. The soil was soft and moist after the rain.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

You must have had a great deal of satisfaction Busy. It is great when the rain makes weeding easier - as long as you don't have too much soil clinging onto the roots.

I am signing out for tonight people. I'm going to give that new police drama on ITV - Karen Pirie - a go as Ridley is now finished. See you all in the morning. Enjoy your evenings. Ante - don't be stressing about 'Monday' . This time tomorrow it will all be over!

    Good evening.

    Thank you ladies.ย

T'bird, it's wonderful that you will leave berries for birds. There is always time to tidy hedges.

LB, I know it will pass quickly. I had relaxing day, so don't mind about Monday.

It's raining whole day and it will continue whole next week. It's football match on tv and I'm going to watch it.

    Morning all,

    Another night in the CA!

OH set off for work and then rang me from the bottom of the hill - car has conked out. Coincidentally, a few days after a 'mechanic' came out to make some adjustment due to a fault/recall type situation. I've no idea what he did and wish I'd asked now! Today was the first time it has been driven since.

Anyway, I drove eldest's car down so OH could get to work and will have to sort her car out later. Walking back up the hill there was an awful lot of tree debris. It must have been blowing hard overnight. Branches bigger than me (which is pretty big ;)) on the road/pavement. Shifted the bigger ones onto the grass and collected a few for the garden waste bin. Can't beat a bit of impromptu gardening at 5.30am :oย  ย

Good morning Biglad and all later arrivals. I was woken (rudely) at 03:00 by high winds and torrential rainfall so sounds like my weather is matching yours. Managed to doze after that. Bummer about the car and I hope none of your neighbours were curtain twitching at that time this morning wondering what the Hanover a mad man was doing - bonfire building perhaps?
