@Ladybird4 apparently it needs fitting to the wall by the boiler in back room which I tidied in preparation but they were too busy. We will see how things go with the leak. No water visible but definitely marks on ceiling

Good afternoon all. I hope that you have all had super days. I had a lovely time with my Bestie. I got rid of a load of stuff at the Charity Shop including, SGL, those festive items we were leaving until October to donate. I had had enough of them hanging (not literally) around in the garage.
I bought a new fleece blanket for Lily and her old one is now getting freshened up in Lily's TV. It should dry nice and quickly in this warm spell we are having.
Busy, I feel so sorry for your OH. He must be very frustrated with his lack of mobility. I do hope you managed a pleasant trip to the GC.

    Good evening everyone.

LB, I'm glad that you had a nice time with Bestie. Hope Lily will love new fleece blanket.

Debs, hope you'll have not more problems with water leaking. Did you make raspberry jam?

I had almost perfect day. First, it was raining whole day, and temperature is, believe me or not, perfectly 19℃. What a relief, especially because I sowed few more winter veggies yesterday. I made a cup of tea and was browsing thru books on ebay. Found one which I want, and bought it. Now I must wait two weeks to arrival. Tomorrow is Friday, which means weekend is coming.

Yay Ante, you have survived the week. It is great news about the drop in temperature to such a comfortable level and I'm sure that you will be looking forward to getting to the cottage at the weekend. Lily is snuggled up on her new blanket already so I guess that means that she likes it. She was very funny at first because I don't think she liked the feel of the new, thick, fluffy blanket. She kept putting her front feet on it and then backing off - didn't last long though and she is now asleep on it.

  • Yes thank you @Busy-Lizzie I slept quite well. Think I was tired from the previous night of being awake for most of it.
Hope you and OH had a lovely time at the garden centre. Did anything jump into your basket 😉 Hope OH hears about his op soon.
It's been very overcast and muggy all day. It started raining here about 6.30,  its pouring down at the moment.
Aww  @Ladybird4 I'll have to sort the cupboard out and get the Xmas decorations sorted to take to the charity shop. Can't believe it's  almost a year  since we mentioned about taking the decorations to the charity shop. This year has flown by 😱 Glad Lily cat likes her new blanket.
@debs64 hope you get the leak sorted soon.
@Ante1 glad you've had rain at last.

    Evening all,

I've actually done a bit in the garden today. The strawberry/rhubarb/blackberry border had become quite dense and I haven't seen what has been going on at ground level for ages. Turns out there were very few weeds and loads of new strawberry plants amidst a tangled web of runners shooting all over the place. I've potted up about a dozen new plants, weeded and chucked on some manure-based soil improver. I'll take out some of the older strawberry plants at some point as there is too much going on in there. Most of the fruit got missed until it was manky this year. Going to try them in planters for 2023.

Listening to football on the radio whilst sitting in the CA now - I'll probably wake up here at about 3am ;)

    Good evening everyone 😎

Ante - so pleased to hear you have rain and more comfortable temperatures. There have been times this summer when I thought it would never cool down again.

We also liked Heidelberg a lot - very pretty. We drove directly past Stuttgart airport  today. If I'd known I'd have waved to your sister!

We're now in a pretty part of the country but near no big towns anybody will have heard of. We're about halfway between Friedrichshafen and Bad Waldsee.

We're staying on a working farm with a campsite attached. It's very family-friendly and the visiting kids all seem to get roped in with feeding and mucking out the animals including cows, horses, goats, chickens, rabbits and cats. There's a huge lake with swing ropes over the water and several camp fire pits.

There are lots of free range children all running around and having the times of their lives getting up to the sorts of things we did as kids but our nanny-state have now outlawed (lighting fires (under supervision!), chopping wood, playing around the lake, spending hours away from parents etc etc).

We've been adopted by a 13 year old who said she would like to spend a lot of time talking to us as she wants to improve her English ready for school debates (in English). Her English is near perfect already but she took me to meet the farm kittens so I'll talk to her all day long!

It's a relaxed and happy place and we've just spent a very pleasant hour around the campfire chatting with fellow campers. Very friendly and welcoming. I think we may be a bit of a novelty - it's definitely not regular Brit tourist territory.

Today we visited the factory where our new campervan will be built and tomorrow we are visiting the nearby Hymer (caravans & motorhomes) museum. Should be a bit different!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Absolutely pouring down still and now we have thunder and lightning. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

SGL, its a bit scary thinking how quickly this year has flown past.
Biglad, good idea to try planters for your strawberries next year. I remember one holiday in Guernsey when I was fascinated by strawberries being grown in vast lengths of guttering hanging inside cold greenhouses. Minimum amount of compost yet they were all dripping with fruit.
T'bird, good evening to you and your OH. That farm sounds absolutely idyllic to me. I would love being able to help with all the animals - and you mentioned the magic word:

I've seen the name 'Hymer' on caravans before so it is interesting to hear about the place where they are built. Are you picking up a new motorhome whilst you are over there or is this said vehicle in future planning?
