@Biglad My sweet peas didn't really have a first hurrah 😉 they were rubbish this year. I usually give some to my next door neighbour, there's so many. But I didn't really have that many for myself this year. 🤷‍♀️
A bought bouquet of flowers is always lovely, but I think if OH actually cuts them from the garden, it's very special. So I can understand the brownie points 😂
@Songbird-2 They are all well thank you Hazel. Its back to school day here.   2nd Poppet starts for the very first time🥲 she was only 4 last week, bless her.  Hope 23 enjoys his first day of school.
@Busy-Lizzie I don't  think of it being  in September either, but this year it seems to have come early. 🥲
Back from the hairdressers 💇  and feel much better, it had grown so much since the last cut.

    Afternoon all.

Yesterday was spent mooching around amedieval walled town with a 3 day market on. Very pretty and very buzzing. Had roast pork, cabbage and roast potatoes for lunch. Sounds like a traditional English Sunday lunch but the Germans put their own spin on it. Yummy. Cycled back into town in the evening for a beer and an ice cream by the river. Can't get much more German than that!

Today we're having a lovely lazy day at a spa in Erding near Munich. The largest waterworld / sauna world in Europe apparently. It's very warm so the saunas at the moment are less attractive than the various thermal / swimming pools dotted around. That will change as it cools down quite quickly when the sun starts to go down.

Very pleasant just now lying in the shade listening to the fountains. In a few minutes we'll go for a little drinkies at one of the swim-up pools. It's more like being in the Carribean than Germany!

Yvies your photos are beautiful - have a good hols.

BL - the show looks like fun - which one was it?

SGL - please don't mind the rain. I have fingers firmly crossed for a wet autumn and winter to save my garden. I love autumn - all that hunkering down and making things cosy again.

LB - I have still to make it to Brantwood - definitely on the list. Have you heard any more about going to France?

Afternoon all. I've had a very interesting day today. I think I may have mentioned in the past that the friend I went to see today has given over vast areas of his garden to curate and care for hundreds of ancient varieties of apples and pears in conjunction with a group of scientist friends. They have all the 'unknown' trees DNA tested to see if they feature on a central register and can therefore be identified. Any trees that remain unidentified are tagged until futher research farther afield can be carried out. My friend was given permission to name one unidentified tree which was actually in his garden when he moved in over 50 years ago rather than having been brought in from old orchards so he named it after my friend, his wife, until any confirmed identification can be made. All these ancient trees have had scions taken from them to be grafted onto stronger stocks and in this way they can be preserved.

Two of the many rows of trees.

Hello T'Bird - you snuckered in there. I love the sound of the German market and food. Ice cream and beer - now you are talking! Your holiday is sounding blissful. I think you would really love Brantwood. Its beautiful. Oh and yes, France is on for the end of this month We haven't decided whether to fly or drive yet. I would like to drive this time because it is such an interesting journey and we can have a stop-over en route.

    Where in France, LB?

@Topbird, it was the Wayland Show, Watton.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

You'll be looking forward to that LB - it's been a long time hasn't it?

I know Watton a bit BL. Had a half decent Chinese there a few years ago & there's a motorbike dealer there OH visits when he needs 'bits'.

Just got back from the spa feeling very relaxed. The temperature has dropped quite dramatically and there's lots of condensation. That's a sign of autumn....

T'Bird and SGL, its been three years since we last went and I am very excited about going.
It has gone cooler here too T'Bird and it is oh so dark!
I got a picture of Bestie's granddaughter today in her school uniform. She looks so grown up I can't believe it! So cute. Hope Chive is getting back into the school rhythm again.
SGL, it is so nice when the small people take to school straight away. It cuts down on parental stress!
