Harrumph … even Homebase didn’t have one of these ... or even anything close ...
and OH had to buy a whole Vileda Red Magic Mop. I expect it to last all of five minutes 🙄 Our kitchen floor is ‘stone’ tiles so needs a good scrub from time to time to stop the grouting from becoming fetid.
Have a lovely time with granddaughter et all @didyw 🎉
Anyway … now OH is talking about redecorating the kitchen and downstairs loo, which needs new flooring cos the laminate had to come up when the plumber was finding the leak … I find it’s best to let him cogitate on these matters uninterrupted … I’ve got a jumper to finish …

Hello all, just back from the SM, still very busy with holiday makers which should change next week. Chap in front of us at the till asked if the prices here are the same as in Tesco, we must have looked like we were on holiday, we replied we hadn't been in a Tesco for at least fifteen years and live here! We think we are now shoplifters.... OH ordered something online from the DIY store to collect in store, when they eventually located the item we stood in the queue to pay and OH couldn't remember if he had already paid! we got to the till and the girl just looked at the package and waive us through! OH has checked all his orders and it seems it's not paid for.....what to do eh?
Afternoon. A drizzly day here but the rain has just cranked up a level so butts may be filled if it keeps this up.
I cleared some fallen apples (the ‘June drop’ continued into August) ready for the proper harvest coming soon. They’ve gone onto a big compost pile which is random stuff that doesn’t make the grade for the compost bins (leaves too waxy/thick and excess mowings etc) nor council garden bin (that’s for spikey stuff and the demon weeds). I have done a few house jobs today, including sorting out my airing cupboard and cleaning the bathroom including cleaning the shower screen (a thankless task).
I hope you are all ok with your mopping, Birthday celebrations, Grandad time, and any other potterings.
Afternoon all, sympathies with the shower screen cleaning @AuntyRach, I did mine last week but it's a cubicle. Usually have to strip off and use the shower head to rinse the inside otherwise I'd get drenched. I do use a shower clean spray which I think helps keep the scale away. Speaking of which, OH had his first shower today as the fortnight was up, he said it was absolute bliss. The nurse had suggested wrapping him in cling film but as the wound was on his outside hip/thigh and quite long, I couldn't quite see how that would work!
I'm taking it easy today, just my usual walk to the shops to get the daily paper and another short stroll with OH this afternoon. It was very humid with heavy drizzle this morning so not very pleasant.
What a to-do @Dovefromabove, we've lost our Homebase which we usually used to get household stuff and I really miss it. Fortunately we have laminate on our kitchen/dining room floors so I use a micro-fleece thingy on a mop which is washable and reusable. I also use it for the original sapele wood floor in the hall. It's varnished so okay to wash it lightly.
Glad you've survived your hectic week @D0rdogne_Damsel, time for some down time perhaps. I bet Charlie's excited and nervous in equal measure, as is his Mum!
I wouldn't worry about @floralies. I once bought 4 bottles of wine just before Xmas from Tesco's which the till girl didn't ring up. When I took them back and apologised, they looked at me as though I was mad! They really, really didn't know what to do so ushered me out again.
The yowly cat’s name is Floyd (looks like a girl to me but hey ho) … it lives along the bottom way, next door to S who is on the corner … S said she could hear it yowling this morning too … she thought it was in her garden … apparently its humans are away on their hols and their parents are visiting to feed it … but it’s probably lonely. S said that if she’s not careful it’ll come into her house via any open upstairs windows … she also said be careful cos it’ll let you cuddle and stroke it and then suddenly sink its teeth right into your hand and not let go and draw blood! I think we had a narrow escape …

The cat looks adorable @Dovefromabove, although I appreciate that it didn't seem so this morning. I don't suppose @Hostafan1 thinks so either, although I see a softer side coming out now a grandchild is involved. 😅
Charlie and I had a similar moment at a checkout today, we bought bedding which we thought was 110€ but they charged us 66€, our eyes met, I paid hurriedly and Charlie packed the bag quickly, we had both said to each other earlier that 110€ was extremely expensive for for two single duvet sets. 66€ was a much better deal.
We've had a lovely day together, bought shoes and school clothes, eaten a lovely lunch and now enjoying a fabulous dinner by the river. He's now playing chess with his father and beating him, perfect end to a perfect day.

Misty and humid here this morning, although I believe @floralies and @Obelixx are lucky enough to get some rain and lower temperatures. No rain expected here - again!!
Afternoon @Pat E Glad you are enjoying the Spanish scenery!! Keep warm with Pixel and glad your OH is recovering nicely.
Made a big pot of ratatouille yesterday - probably get one more and that'll be it. Still a glut on courgettes. My second sowing of cucumbers on the 10th July are now 6ft high and have lots of flowers - may they all be female!!! Cooler mornings, but the afternoons and evenings are still very hot.
I hope you all have a pleasant day and you get all those jobs done, that need doing!! Tui Beau temps de Saint Louis, plusieurs jours sans pluie!! Hmmm.
Good morning all … 😊 ☕️ it’s 19C here, quite dark and drizzly with thunder.
Son is in Norfolk camping at a small music festival he and friends are involved with. Typical that the weather is breaking right now … on the other hand perhaps they should’ve held it much earlier 😉 I’ve a feeling we may see him over the next few days for a shower … and perhaps some home cooking.
