Morning everyone from a cloudy but bright Ireland. We drove into Dublin yesterday not an experience I particularly enjoyed. Did go to Trinity college but didn't go in , all expensive tours and booked up anyway. Went to museum of Ireland, all Archaeology very interesting. A week is never enough unless you are super organised and we aren't, trying to coral our lot is like herding cats at the best of times , so best to chill and relax.
Only 14C overnight which is quite a bit cooler than it has been ... it's 17C now with bright blue sky and sunshine ... but only going up to a comfy 24C ... phew!
@WonkyWomble has a neighbour who works a large nursery (which shall remain nameless) and she sometimes brings home surplus stock or stuff that is no longer 'fit for sale'. The other day Wonky found a potted anthurium on her doorstep ... I happened to mention that I'd always wanted one but hadn't got myself one because they're a bit picky about their conditions ... guess what I came home with ... so I've just spent a little while titivating it and washing its leaves etc ... and I've found it a smart white cache pot from the cupboard in the garage ... now, where's it going to be happy?

A friend gave me anthurium many years ago @Dovefromabove, I kept it out of direct sunlight but in a bright spot, when I watered it I let it have a good soak and let it drain before putting it back in the cache pot, I think I even fed it occasionally! It did grow rather leggy and tall in the end though.
I'm thinking about the north-facing landing window @floralies ... it's double glazed and above a small radiator so not cold ... OH has some tender succuents on there at the moment (they can be moved to the studio) and it's next door to the bathroom so I can take it in there for a bit of a steam when I shower ... my book says it needs soft water ... did you find that?
On the other hand, it's looking quite at home on the dining room table at the moment ...
What do you think?

Right ... that's the garden-stuff done for the day ... hopefully ... although the Roma tomatoes need some care and attention ... they're carrying so much fruit they're beginning to break their branches ... but I need OH to help me deal with them ... the squashes have invaded their space and if I try to scramble around in that lot I'll probably entangle my ankles and impale myself on a tomato cane ... OH is at home tomorrow ... they'll have to wait until the.
I've picked a colander-full of Crimson Crush and little cherry toms ... we've only two plants of the cherry ones but they're so prolific we're inundated ...
I didn't pick runner beans yesterday, so there's extra today ... so now I'll make a coffee and sit on the sofa in front of the European championships and get them ready for the freezer ...

It looks very happy there @Dovefromabove! I'm sure you have less chance of killing it than me, I'm not great with indoor plants!
Currently sat in a lovely breeze in a bucket chair outside my mechanics workshop on a farm in the middle of nowhere, drinking my second fresh coffee from my friends tiny-home campervan.... So peaceful that if I couldn't hear the swearing about my car, I could easily fall asleep!!
Thought that plant looked familiar! Just checked the label, and I also have one. It’s on a little table by the French window, and thankfully looking rather healthier than it did. It somehow got missed out on the indoor plant watering schedule, and was bone dry and looking sorry for itself a week ago. I cut off the dead looking bits and gave it a good soak, and the new leaves are unfurling nicely. Just having a coffee after a very enjoyable and productive hour in the garden. I have cut back the stalks of one of the bamboo plants in the woodland, I can now get round the path! Also demolished another load of brambles, shocking how much distance they can cover when left to their own devices. Of course, doubly enjoyable when I get a root out and pull, and yards of garden are suddenly clear! I’ve also got a small bowl of ripe blackberries. Not sure what to do with them, OH can’t stand them, not enough for jam, and a bit on the sour side. Maybe chuck them on my cereal tomorrow and feel virtuous!
That looks a fine plant @Dovefromabove, do you know what colour it is yet? I don't think our water is soft, but the plant survived! I'm not good with house plants rather like Wonky.
Afternoon all. Was going to do some gardening today but got caught up in stuff and still haven't cleared the table of all the papers etc that I dump down after meetings etc. Nor have I stripped the bed - that will have to wait until tomorrow now. I'm quite chilled these days about things not done, provided the urgent stuff does get done. Hope the drive went OK @Pat E - it's OK, @D0rdogne_Damsel's cakes are perfectly fine for borderline diabetes. And for those of us who are becoming gluten intolerant. Yum. Enjoy your time off @Nanny Beach How lovely to spend time with Wonky @Dovefromabove - I haven't seen my daughter for over a week, even though its the school holidays - and she only lives 3 streets away. But it is eldest g'daughter's birthday this coming week. She'll be 17!!!!! Hopefully we will be able to help her celebrate, even if she has other plans for the actual day.
