That’s great that you are going to have a bit of a break, Hostafan. You really deserve it. And you can get some help with the garden when you get back, so don’t worry. Hugs.

Loving the winking sloth you captured with your logs @Pat E!
Once you are away and enjoying seeing your grandsons and daughter your garden worries will disappear @Hostafan1.Ā  Besides - it will give you something to do when you get back.
Re the paperwork - not coping DD - but I am more in awe of all your baking!
@chicky - are you still able to walk in a straight line?

Afternoon all,Ā  Sounds like you will have a great time @Hostafan1.Ā  I went to Firstborn's yesterday to celebrate SIL's birthday.Ā  Secondborn was their too, along with lots of friends and we had a great time.Ā  I drank slightly too much white wine and ate cake neither of which are good for my waistline, never mind I'll have to sort out any weight gain when I come back from holiday.
    Hope everyone enjoys their day.

    Afternoon all,

Sounds like most people are celebrating something! They're what keeps us going and enjoying life. Hope @Busy-Lizzie enjoyed her black tie do, the last one we went to was just before lockdown in Feb 2020, seems a very long time ago now.

How lovely @Hostafan1 to see all your family again, a well deserved break.

Lots of firewood there for you @Pat E, handy to have it just lying around. We've got a logstore ready to use if we need to have an open fire to save on bills but hoping not to.

We've been for a short walk this morning, down to look at the brook, the lowest we've ever seen it in 15 years. OH managed well. He has an appointment tomorrow to have the dressing on his hip removed and checked over.Ā

We had a lovely lunch out yesterday in a friends' garden, about 8 of us. Everybody contributed food and drink to make it easy for the hosts. It was an hour's journey away so I drove OH very carefully and managed to avoid most of the potholes/drains. I think he was glad to get out of the house and talk to somebody else rather than me! They were amazed at his good progress.

Enjoy your family visit @Hostafan1.Ā  Ā

We are back home. We enjoyed the dinner and seeing people again who we knew but the dancing music was so loud it almost killed all further conversation. Not many people danced, but our friend danced a lot. She loves it. There were people talking loudly and having a bath until 3.15am in the room above ours so I didn't sleep well, but OH slept like a log. We went to our friends' house this morning for coffee, birthday cake and more chat. That was nice, in their garden.

Before coming home we visited Great Comp Garden which we enjoyed, but it was looking very dry. The rhododendrons had very floppy leaves and their wasn't much green lawn left. The dahlias were lovely.Ā

Glad you had a lovely time most of the time @Busy-Lizzie, and that the birthday girl enjoyed herself. 😊

I think most gardens will be looking a bit parched about now… Ā but those dahlias do look very good.Ā

Time for bed now, so night night all … sleep tight 😓

Lizzie27, I meant to respond last night to your comment. Yes, the back part of our place (about 80 acres) is like that photo with trees both alive and dead all over. We would never cut a live one for firewood, Ā but here’s always fallen eucalyptus trees everywhere.Ā

There was a new fallen branch out there when we were cutting - we’ve had quite a lot of strong winds recently. 😔

morning all. Freezing in the house this morning, but it’s starting to warm up now that the fire has been lit. BrrrĀ

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
Another morning of bright blue sky and sunshine … hope you’re nice and warm by now @Pat
Ill bake some bread today and cook a gammon hock in the slow cooker  … that way we’ll have plenty to make sandwiches with while the plumber is in the kitchen Tuesday and Wednesday. There’s plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers in the garden … we won’t starve. šŸ˜‰Ā
