I had someone to help me with the autumn clean up last October @Hostafan1 I was edgy because I do everything myself. (Nobody can do it as good!!) A woman from the Eastern Block - loves gardening - she's coming back this autumn!

I agree, it's not as I'd do it, but I'm very grateful for his help.
Glad you and @WonkyWomble enjoyed your day together @Dovefromabove. Kind of Wonky to offer me an Alchemilla, but I said not yet. Now I've found a baby one under the peony in the front garden that my other Alchemilla has made!
I've been gardening and watering.
This afternoon we went to Peter Beales Classic roses and wandered around the garden and I bought some plants to fill in some gaps. That was fun
Tomorrow we are going to our friend's birthday party, dinner and dancing in a hotel near Tunbridge Wells, long dress and dinner jacket. It will have to be a long skirt, my evening dress is in France. We are staying the night in the hotel.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Spent an hour in the garden this evening, and feel so much better for it! I pulled up a mass of brambles with roots, and made a substantial inroad into clearing the path down into our woodland, which was almost completely blocked. Very jealous of those who have organised help in their gardens. We got a local company round to quote for helping to clear the undergrowth which got away from me this year. ( neither of us are supposed to be doing any heavy lifting etc) However, I was disappointed with the quote, seemed high, and basically proposed hacking everything to ground level with brush cutters, but leaving the roots. Not what I wanted at all, I could probably persuade OH to do the same, although it would take longer, and we would have to dispose of the debris ourselves. But at least it wouldn’t have cost a fortune to have everything grow back again next spring. The guy has offered to come back and discuss some alternative, more permanent, approaches so may take him up on that. What I think I actually need is a couple of strong people to come in and spend a day at a time digging out roots, but don’t know where to find them.
My Summer holiday has started 🍾 No jetting off or heading off but that means no packing, no queuing, no finding cat sitters and no danger of plants wilting. Oh and more pocket money to spend on bills plants and gin.
I hope everyone is ok. Enjoy the weekend, whether you are dinner-dancing, bramble-bashing and anything in between.
Managed a super speedy read back, but all a bit of a blur. My chef is off to move house, she's waited nearly two years, so many complications, so I couldn't say no, just means I am cooking solidly for 12 hours a day for 4 days, and we're doing around 200 meals a day.... as I say, all a bit of a blur. And I am still baking all the cakes. Earl Grey, Lemon and Pistache, Cake of the Day today.
Hugs to all.

Morning all. That cake looks delish, DD. However, Because I’m at threat of diabetes taking over my life, I try to keep the sugar input down. Don’t always succeed though. 🙄.
Today is driving to the tip day, and because Hubby is not driving with his eyes out of balance, so I’ll be driving. 😡. Don’t enjoy that chore.
