The plane was 2 hours late yesterday. It arrived late at Bergerac which meant it had to wait until the plane for Rotterdam, which was the one after it, had taken off. OH met me at Stanstead.
My feelings about funerals are fairly similar to @Lizzie27. I don't mind what my children do for me so long as they agree and do what they want. However, i would prefer to be cremated rather than buried, clastrophobic.
The lawn is a bit of a mess, moles and drought. There are still a lot of living plants but not nearly as much colour as my French garden. The Busy Lizzies have died but the nicotianas and nemesias are fine. I haven't really inspected it yet, only looked out of the window.
Our road is closed, the end we use to go to Diss and Morrisons, so we are going to Waitrose today, further away, and a light lunch in a very old pub.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad you got here ok at last @Busy-Lizzie ... a lot of roadworks down your way apparently. Hope not too many of them affect you. Fingers very crossed that the garden will perk up once proper rains arrive. We've only had enough to lay the dust here, so far.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Glad you arrived safely @Busy-Lizzie - even if the journey was a bit of a faff.
That bed looks gorgeous @Hostafan1 - amazing how things grow without us really noticing. A good before/after pic really brings it home.
Off for a “behind the scenes” trip to Kew today. Train strike might make driving and parking more complicated than usual, so I am leaving myself plenty of time.
That was fun, thanks, @tui34. Feast of the Assumption of Mary, bank holiday in France - for those in the UK
Yes @Dovefromabove, OH says the A11 is blocked so we'll take the country roads to go north and the other direction to get to Diss will mean quite a big diversion.
I've been for a walk around the garden, rather disappointing despite OH's watering. When he came back one of the water butts was still full, gardening lady was supposed to have used it for watering, but I don't suppose it would have been enough anyway> Several plants have died, alchemilla mollis, polemonium, pulmonaria, perennial foxglove and some others. The mole is rampant in the long border, the lawn earth must be too hard now. Lots of cutting back, tying up and weeding of nettles needs doing.

@Busy-Lizzie It wasn't for the Assumption on the 15th August - it was for the 16th August - the feast of St Roch who saved Serignan from a plague in the flocks of sheep - could have been foot and mouth. It is celebrated every year with a blessing of the horses.

Here is Tuesday's procession.
