Our water here comes from a spring. Fortunately it's a 'strong' one and still running. We let the overspill run down the lane, so there is always shallow water along the track. The swallows use it for mud for their houses, the bats feed along it, there are generally a few birds having a bath in the bit under the elder tree by the gate, where they can get to cover quickly. All this is normal. This evening as I was watching from the bedroom window (while I was cleaning my teeth, if you must know), I saw a brown hare come up the track, then drink for a while, then lope off through the neighbour's little orchard, heading back to the woods. I've never seen on come quite so close to the house - this must be one of few water sources left now.

I suspect if we put a night camera down there, we'd see all sorts coming to visit after dark at the moment.

I did see one of the neighbour's cats following the hare a few moments later, but keeping a distance. The hare was definitely bigger than the cat - not sure which one would come off best in that contest, and I don't think the cat was sure either. The dogs were both asleep on the cool tiled floor in the office and entirely oblivious to all this.

Hope you all have a good week. You're in my thoughts, @Hostafan1

    Hi all

Lovely day, we are off to RHS Bridgewater to see how it has changed in the last year.

Have a lovely day @punkdoc … we had thought about going out today but decided that three hours in the car didn’t appeal … OH is going to make a curry instead … we might go out another day …

Will be good to hear what you think.  I have been hearing great things about it, so really interested to see how it is settling in/continuing with its development.

Chicklet moved into a flat share yesterday, so we have a temporarily empty nest for a while 🐣

Another lovely day - going to take my laptop outside for some more CAB swotting.

Good morning everyone,  another warm bright start here.  Rather a poor night's sleep,  not looking forward to later in the week.
@Pat E I watched a bit of the women's cycling road race yesterday and thought of you. I didn't see who won but I note your compatriots are topping the overall medal table.

Hi Allotment Boy. IVe not watched the Games.
My interest in the road cycling is the scenery. 🤭. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit that.
I-have noted all the gold medals which are making the evening news though.  😁
