Debs you are right - summer holidays were so looked forward to because they went on FOREVER! Now, blink and you miss it.
SGL, hope all goes well with the physio for your OH today.
Ruby, did the rain wake you as well?

Afternoon everyone. Been busy outside dead heading and dead leafing - the garden is definitely going in to survival / autumn mode and is looking very tired and sorry for itself. No rain at all and none in the forecast. Dreading the return to low 30's temperatures next week.

I've been harvesting autumn fruiting raspberries for the last month😲. Bearing in mind that raspberries like the cool, damp conditions of Scotland it's fair to say they're not enjoying this summer - fruits are very small and the blackberries and elderberries in the local hedgerows have shrivelled away to nothing. What will the birdies eat this autumn? Pears and plums, surprisingly, are doing well - what's that all about??

Chive - that's a gorgeous view. Are you self catering? My favourite sort of holiday when you get to go shopping at the local market and eat what you fancy when you fancy it in your swimmies. Hope you have a lovely holiday!

LB - enjoy your trip out.

Rosie - Sorry to hear you've had disturbed nights. These are worrying times for many people and I hope you're ok.

Ante - good to hear your furry friend is on the mend. Hope you haven't had any more harvesting / growing setbacks.

Must fix some lunch and then head outside again. SYL.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Good afternoon all. Had a lovely meet up with the quiz gang and all bar one of us went for the renowned fish and chips. The other person had gammon. It was all very delicious. My trip to the GC before that was also successful in that I got a new, jumbo sized peanut feeder for the birdies and a pair of razor sharp dead heading snips. Oh and I also got a big, beautiful Rudbeckia 'Laura' that was on special offer.

Physio went well for OH thank you everyone. Although  he felt rather tired afterwards.
Glad you had a lovely day with quiz friends @Ladybird4 I would definitely had had the fish and chips, yummity yum 😋  Gorgeous colour Rudbeckia  LB, sounds like you had a good time at the GC too.

@Topbird I don't mind a nice sunny day, but don't want the temperatures to rise to high 30s again either.  Wish we could have a good downpour, the garden is looking a bit sad here too. Just watched the weather forecast and they said we might not get rain till September. 😏

SGL, your last sentence reminds me of an old song but the other way around:
"It might as well rain until September." Was it the Everly brothers or Bobby Vee - now there are two blasts from the past?
