Morning everyone, Slept on and off, been up since 6. I gave up I was so hot. Have been sitting in the garden listening to the birds and watching the sun come up. Enjoying another cup of tea at the moment. Hope everyone got some sleep during the night, it certainly was a hot one. @Chivetalking we have a fan, but I can't use it during the night. It's not particularly load, but it still keeps me awake 🤦♀️🤣 @Ladybird4 hope you get everything you want in 'sco. Pick me up some icecream too please while you're there 😉 Don't fall in the freezer while you rummage though. Strawberry ripple for me please. @Rubee hope you and OH managed to sleep. Is the heat affecting his legs. Hope he's not too uncomfortable.
Lily OH is up a lot during the night .The heat is not helpful. OH has an appointment this morning at the Lymphoedema clinic .We are hoping he is getting his new Lympho socks this morning .
I have an easy morning. We survived day yesterday, barely. It was scorching hot and in the church was even worse. We came home completely drained. I will rest today, and tomorrow will go to cottage. Can't let veggies without water on this temperature.

When I woke up this morning there was a smell of smoke in the air and the sky looks misty. Couldn't see any signs of fire though. Now I've read the local paper. Forest fires are raging south of Bordeaux near the coast and the wind is carrying the smell and smoke as far as Dordogne, 2 hours away. Over 300 people have rung the Fire Brigade. The newspaper is asking us not to as they are too busy and there isn't a risk in Dordogne. However there was a fire near Sorges, not far from my old house, but they've put it out.
I'm going to a Garden Club meeting of their rose group this afternoon with a friend.
Off to do some weeding in the veg garden before it gets too hot. It should be cooler today than yesterday and there may be storms tonight.

Chive, the minute I stepped into the foyer of 'sco the air con was delightful. The security men were eyeing me with deep suspicion as I lingered there so I pretended I was looking for my shopping list (only kidding!). It was absolute bliss! I had my fan on all night and I slept really well. Poor Lily is struggling to find a cool spot this morning.
Ruby, I hope that your OH's vist to the clinic today has some positive results.
Ante, it must have been very stressful yesterday. I hope you have bottles of water you can drink when you are tending your veggies today.
Busy, Sis in La Londe says that so far they are safe from wildfires but there are big areas of bocage and maquis near by so there are concerns. Enjoy your trip to the Gardening Club this afternoon

Hoping to have finished all the 'deadline work' for the week by the end of today. Might even be able to drag myself away from the laptops during the rest of the week.
Afternoon all. Gosh Hazel, you are so right. I feel sorry for the workers and also for the neighbours who are having the work done. It would be nice to just sit quietly instead of having workmen bustling about.
For a brief moment this morning it went very dark here and I thought we were in for a thunderstorm but no such luck. I have noticed the amount of daylight decreasing now as last night I actually had to have lights on in the house.
Hi folks, still frying here. Had a lovely day on Sunday at Firstborn's. The weather was perfect for a visit from my niece who is over from Oz. Hadn't seen her for about 8 years as I was on holiday the last time she came back. My sister, my other niece, her husband and Secondborn were there too. It was the first time some of them had met Gabriel. We had a lovely BBQ and stayed in the garden until late. Since then I haven't been out apart from popping out late at night to water the veg and pots. I've felt a bit like a mole living in the dark with windows and curtains shut against the heat. The sitting room curtains have just been opened as the sun moves towards the back of the house at this time of day. We have the fan on to keep the air circulating and that helps. We haven't had a problem sleeping as we have a portable air con unit bought many years ago that gets an airing very occasionally. It's worth it's weight in gold. Have been wearing a very light weight t shirt type nightie as it's cool and airy. Stay safe everyone.
