SGL, all the blue bins down the Lane have been left out so I guess we were all missed.
Hazel - pulled through a hedge backwards - Yes I feel much better now it is cut and coloured again.Β  I have a stable door leading from my kitchen to my back garden and I put up a fly screen every year to keep flies out (hate flies in the house!) it has to be cut a little shorter to leave the cat flap clear for Lily and the top half of the door is open all day when the weather is fine.
Ruby, I smiled at the story of the savage chicken after being very annoyed about the sillyness and thoughtlessness of the people who called the emergency services for non emergency situations.

Evening all. Much cooler today and I had planned to spend it doing some very much needed unmentionables. However, my cousin in New Zealand has been spending his winter evenings sorting and scanning old photos and overnight he emailed a couple he thought I'd like. So we spent the whole morning e-chatting and swapping photos. Much more enjoyable!

Did do some of the boring stuff this afternoon and I've also been giving the back garden a deep watering. The sprinkler has been on all afternoon doing half an hour at a time on each part of the borders. Don't even want to start thinking about the water bill.... We've had no proper rain for nearly 3 months plus 2 heatwaves (one while we were away) so (despite mulching etc etc) the ground is as dry as dust. No point watering in the heat - so much just evaporates - but hopefully today's session will give the plants a decent drink.Β

Chive - last day at work always feels great. Hope you have a good break.

LB - nice to get your hair done. I've had to stretch the gap between appts this time to make dates work with my and hairdresser's holidays - starting to resemble a shaggy dog.

Hazel - good idea to reduce your gardening workload.Β

BL - fingers crossed for OH's appt. Will you come back with him or wait until his op is actually booked?

SGL - hope things cool down for you. It's set to get very hot here again this weekend. Too much for me.

Rubee - re the 999 thing - some people are sick and some are selfish idiots. Not sure which one he is.

T'Bird, how lovely to be able to 'chat' with your cousin in New Zealand. It is wonderful how modern technology can allow such rapid connection with people so far from us.
Gardeners World now - new evening, new time so I am signing out for tonight. See you all in the morning.

    Good evening everyone.

Just came home from my neighbour. We had a nice time sitting out in the garden with few more people. Yesterday I was at cottage and found one more disaster. My sister was with me, so I didn't cry, but I was on the edge. Despite all high and electric fence deer somehow came in and destroyed almost all beetroot.Β
Now is time to eat something light and go to sleep. My sister is with me two more days, then she goes back to Germany.
Btw, I received your heatwave, so currently is very pleasant 32℃.

I won't be going back with OH, going to see family first and the electrician should be coming to finish the work he did before when he changed the fuse box. The kitchen lighting isn't all working. I'm going back on the 17th August.Β

The restaurant by the river is the same one we went to before. Not haute cuisine but good and well priced and it's nice being by the river, cooler. We had seafood salad, roast pork and panna cotta.

@Songbird-1 No, no, you didn't upset me at Hazel and so glad I didn't upset you too. Sometimes it's difficult to post a message and hope the wording has been read as you have meant it to be.Β  All is ok.Β

How lovely @Topbird that you could chat and swap photos with your cousin. Lovely catch up.

@Ante1 so sorry to hear that you have had deer cause so much damage to your beetroot. I can imagine how upset you are about it. You must be devastated after all your hard work.Β  Hope you can salvage some of the damaged plants.
Hope you can enjoy the last few days with your sister before she goes home.

@Busy-Lizzie Hope you can get all electric sorted before you return here next month.Β  Hope all goes well your OH appointments and operation.

Will say night night to you all, sleep well and sweet dreams everyoneΒ

A very good morning one and all.
Ante, I was so very sorry to hear of the latest deer damage done to your beetroot crop. I cannot even begin to think how upsetting that must be for you - after all your hard work particularly in the extremes of heat you have had. As SGL said, I hope that you may save some plants but how will you be able to protect them from further attacks? Thoughts are with you Ante. Try to enjoy the last days with your sister.

Well I checked on the bus situation and I'm afraid to say that because of the ongoing industrial action there will be no buses today so yet again I will put Canasta on hold. Its a pity that the car parking situation is so poor but I'm not prepared for being clamped/fined. Hey ho. It does make me feel very sorry for people who are reliant on buses to go about their usual duties.

Morning @Ladybird4 and all to follow.
Well we didn't get any rain last night and it's sunny and bright this morning. Forecast now says rain from mid afternoon. Hopefully I'll get back from seeing my friend at the GC before it starts.Β
Haha LB great style, but might take me a couple of days to get used to the colour πŸ˜‰πŸ€£πŸ€£
Sorry the buses aren't running today, hopefully you will be able to go to canasta next week. Will you ring up about your missed bins. That happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago and she rang and her road was missed because the bin lorry broke down and they came the next day.Β
    Need a cup of tea.
