You had very poor customer service. I accept that. You are clearly very upset by it.
However it is unfair to extrapolate from one bad experience, to saying that the entire company is bad. That may be the case or it may not.
This year has been difficult for many companies and they have struggled to find enough staff members or staff with relevant experience.
Mistakes do sometimes happen, even in usually reliable companies and for many reasons, this year has been especially difficult.
As someone has already mentioned, we do talk about on-line
suppliers and acknowledge some that are always excellent and others that
are generally poor. I have no experience with it, but I believe the one you dealt with is not considered one of the best.
If you genuinely wish to engage with the members of this forum, then don't let your feeling of grievance affect your judgement. Your life is clearly very stressful for you, but many people on here also have much to trouble them. They often find a great deal of support and sympathy from chatting with other members. This is usually a happy, friendly place, but you don't help your cause by making derogatory
remarks to people you know nothing about. With a more conciliatory approach you would already have received a warm welcome by now,as many
others have before you.
Lucky you, you don't have to sometimes buy online as you can't leave the house often
Ha ha, and you don’t have an incurable form of cancer that means that you have been classed as extremely clininically vulnerable since lockdown began and have done nothing but online shopping for over two years.
Ha ha. Love it.
And now this really is farewell.
My father is disabled with numerous conditions, he requires 24 hour care. He is not able to leave the house. Therefore I rarely can also.

Take a deep breath and try again, but play nicely
Thanks for your message.
Not poor service, multiple lies.
It's clearly my stated opinion based on my own experience. In fact I asked has anyone else had a bad experience. There is no extrapolation.
People that have engaged nicely with me, and those who have shared their own experiences, good or bad, have been nicely engaged with back. As you can see from the thread.
People who's only contribution is to bizarrely complain about a Gardener, sharing their own experience, with other gardeners, on a Gardening forum, have received different replies.
I do understand your message to be constructive. Thanks again for that.
pansyface Like you, I'm not a knitter - the last time I tried was in primary school - the task set was to knit a scarf. I eventually managed to produce a long woollen worm which was already beginning to fray at the edges before I'd even finished it. On presenting it to Teacher, she took one look and actually shuddered before suggesting that my "talents" may be better used elsewhere. I took the hint and didn't attempt to knit anything else or to argue that Teacher was wrong. It was of course only her opinion but quite frankly, my WW had no other use than an example of complete ineptitude. This is of course nowt to do with the OP's post other than to twig when it's wise to give up on something that's not going anywhere. Sorry Pansy - should have done in Bold but don't know how to change

Thanks for your comment.
I will continue to fight my corner, until the cows come home, just as much as people are free not to reply at any point.
It's wrong for a company to string along a customer if the goods that were ordered can't be supplied after all, but I think the best you can hope for at this point is a refund (including any postage and packing charge of course, as they didn't actually send anything) and chalk it up to experience. If you haven't been able to get a refund from them despite them cancelling your order, that's another issue entirely. If you paid by credit card or Paypal you could maybe take it up with them.
Personally I haven't had a problem with Suttons or T&M, but I've only ever bought seeds from them (and that was a long time ago, before the internet, when seed catalogues came in the post and you sent an order form with a cheque). These days there are so many other suppliers to choose from so it should be easy enough to avoid them.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Thanks Jenny!
I just aim to make other Gardeners aware of my experience with Suttons. What they chose to do with this info, is of course up to them.
I feel its important to share both good and bad experiences, for the benefit of others.
I'm happy my post is doing that, regardless of how some may chose to take it. Its the only way to improve customer service of companies.
There are 86,000 reviews for Suttons on Trustpilot alone which are available for anyone to view before making a purchase. Imagine if every one of those reviewers decided their experience was worth making an account and starting a new post to share with the forum. Suttons customer services ask for reviews via Trustpilot and use this to improve their customer services, I doubt that they monitor this forum. I understand that you think your review is special and that you think it will help others but please read the above and put it in perspective.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Oh...you're back! Your flagging of my OP not work out that well then!
There are indeed 86 000 reviews, with a mean score around 3.5 if I remember correctly. Very obviously, Trustpilot was my first point of call, I'm not an imbecile. Zero response from them!
Your absolutely resolute defence of them, despite never even claiming to have used them, is a cuuuuuuuurious sight to hehold.
As many people have mentioned on this thread, not sure if you bother to read it or not, Suttons were bought out by another company who have a hideous track record. Please give us your detailed analysis of what review site scoring was before, or after the buy-out.
Would love for you to share how you know which is which!
None of this, of course, counters the bad experience I received. Just fantastic whataboutery.
Sorry if you think in response to your attack message, this is confrontational. I don't!

You are clearly a lovely person.
Farewell.

All the best!
At least a dish cloth was useful which is more than can be said for my "scarf"
