    Hello everyone😎

We've made it onto the boat. Didn't realise how nervous and stressed I was about actually getting to this stage until last night when I slept well and deeply for the first time in days. Several stages at which we could have ended up in 10 (or is it still 14?) days of strictly enforced quarrantine in Vancouver and missed the trip altogether.

Mandatory Covid testing before embarkation yesterday and I've had a sore throat and felt quite hot since Saturday. I was literally shaking when we went to get our results - convinced we'd be denied boarding. But our tests were clear and here we are.

The boat is fabulous with only 298 passengers on board (capacity is 520), so lots of room to lig about and relax. The cabin is large and super comfy, the crew are are all helpful and very friendly and the food so far is good. Still think OH would prefer to be on the huge Disney ship with lots of hyper-excited children which left a couple of hours before us 😉 There's a worrying number of unaccompanied adults on that trip - what's that all about??

Today is a day at sea but there are several lectures to listen to and lots of scenery to enjoy as we sail past. May do some painting this afternoon. Internet is sketchy so I'll be dipping in and out of here when I can. Tomorrow we're taking small Zodiacs to get up close and personal to the glaciers. 😎 We also get a bonus hour tonight as we cross a time zone 🥳

Hello there T'Bird - you snuckered in there. I can imagine your angst waiting for your results but I'm pleased to hear you passed. Perhaps you just have a little cold that made you feel so offside. It must be fascinating to watch all the wonderful scenery from the ship. I tell you what, I reckon I'd be nervous getting into a Zodiac to go up close and personal to a glacier! Still you could always take some back on board for your gin!
I am signing out for today. I watched the first episode of the new drama - Sherwood - last night and its part 2 tonight. There were so many familiar faces in the cast I was trying to guess what I had seen them in. See you all tomorrow. Hope we get some sleep!

We watched half of Sherwood 1 last night then went to bed, too sleepy. Will watch more tonight.

Niece's visit went well, we had a good chat and they enjoyed their lunch, had second helpings.

Hi folks, I've had some great news today.  Secondborn is currently looking for a house to buy.  She had seen one she would love but it was well out of her price range.  She had seen a much smaller one which she could afford but it needed quite a bit of work but she put an offer in.  I told her to put a maximum offer in for the one she really wanted and write a note to the vendor explaining her current circumstances and why the offer was relatively low.
The estate agent called today, asked Secondborn if she was sitting down and said that the vendor wanted her to have the house.  She said the money wasn't important and that she had lived all her married life in the house and just wanted someone to buy it who would love it as much as she and her husband had.  She explained that since her husband had died she felt that the house needed a family so she wanted to move on and downsize.  The vendor was crying, the estate agent shed a tear and Secondborn was in floods.  It's proved to me that there really are some lovely people in the world.

Just popped in to say I was so pleased to hear Yvie's news - that is such a happy story. Fingers crossed the transaction goes through quickly and smoothly - if both vendor and purchaser want it to happen I'm sure it will.

Thanks for your good wishes about my sore throat. I think that's actually nothing worse than a touch of hay fever compounded by being on a long haul flight and then living in an air conditioned environment for the last 4 days.

Ooh - PA announcement - They've just spotted some whales - gotta dash!
