    Evening everyone,
It's been an absolutely gorgeous day.  We've had our meals in the garden and have only just come indoors. Still beautiful outside, all you can hear are the birds singing their little heads off.

Congratulations to @Songbird-1 son. Well done! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
@Ladybird4 hope you've had a lovely day with quiz friends and had enjoyable meal.

    Oops sorry @Yviestevie
Did you think....mustn't buy any roses all day 😉  Glad you had a lovely day. Hope you find the perfect spot for the rose Centre Stage. An excuse to pay another visit to DA 😀
  • Hazel congratulations on your son doing so very well.  I’m glad it will stand him in good stead.  Chive enjoy your break from school.  LB glad you enjoyed your regular outing with friends.  Lily it’s lovely when you can eat out in the garden and just sit and listen to the birds. I’ve my feet up on the sofa.  Managed to doze off after tea for a couple of hours.  Enjoyed the Tennis today but it must be hard playing in such heat.  Goodnight everyone.

I think I am going to have to rescue the wet cloth things. It would be lovely to have a really big thunderstorm with loads of rain to fill up my empty water butts now. Handy brother is away with one of our nephews, a nephew-in-law and several friends for a boys weekend in the Lakes. They are hoping to climb Scafell Pike. They had to delay the start to their trip because of the northbound carriage of the M6 being completely blocked by an overturned lorry and 4 hour delays. I won't hear anything until Sunday about the trip so I hope it goes well.
I, like Rosie, am going to sign out for tonight so I hope that you all have great evenings and I'll see you tomorrow. Now where is that peg bag?

Good afternoon everyone. Lovely reading everybody's news and glad you've all survived the heatwave. Been reading about the A14 very close to where we live which is closed because the surface has completely broken up in the heat. Trying hard not to think about what might be happening in the garden....

Well done on resisting temptation Yvie. I love visiting the DA rose gardens. Have no idea where on earth it could go, but I really want the simple pale yellow rose called 'Tottering By Gently'. Unfortunately it's a biggy so position requires some careful thought🤔

Well done & congratulations to your son Hazel.

Sorry there were no wildlife photos yesterday. Did take some pictures but they are on the camera so not easy to share.

Today we're moored off Petersburg and we went across this morning for a little mooch. Busy fishing harbour but not too much to detain us. Had a bit of a wild west / frontier town vibe to it.

One of the larger shops was for the huntin' shootin' fishin' crowd and we went in to look at some outdoor clothes. I felt really uneasy being surrounded by rows and rows of hundreds of large, lethal hunting / skinning / filleting knives and also the gun counter with an extensive range of rifles & handguns. It didn't help that just across the road is the cannabis store selling legalised drugs. Definitely bits of American culture that just don't lie easy with me.

On a more positive note we enjoyed watching the sea lions jockeying for position on the harbour buoys - think there were 8 on this one ...

🎼🎵..'till the little one said "Roll over, roll over" so they all rolled over and one fell off ...🎵🎼

We watched until there were 5 left - very entertaining.

    Last night's sunset:

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

    Morning all,

Keep the photos and tales coming @Topbird - I think we're all enjoying our vicarious holiday :)

I'm back to falling asleep in the comfy armchair and waking up in the wee small hours.

Nothing planned and home alone for the weekend - hope the weather plays ball!
