LB the lakes is always a lovely place to go I’m sure handy brother, the nephews and friends will have a great time.  Top bird enjoy your tour Although alarming the things they were selling.  Some restful pictures.  Rubee I hope you managed to get back to sleep.  Lily a nice day for hubby to wear his shorts.  Hazel sometimes it’s just lovely to relax and take in the sounds smells and scenes in the garden.  Chive popped to Rubee and oh and had a go on their revitive and caught up with them and their cats.  Popping round tmrw for Father’s Day.  Hello Ante it’s good you can visit cottage regularly, remember to rest and put your feet up at the end of the day.  This morning watching a Ruth Randell Mystery a prolific author and a long running drama.  Busy I’d been to see a play about the ammunitions girls during the WW2 it was very good with rather good effects considering it was a play, compelling to watch.  Enjoy your day everyone.
Good afternoon everyone . It’s cooler but great gardening weather . We haven’t had the forecasted rain yet .About four years ago I planted a Princess Dianna clemmie .It didn’t flower it just disappeared.Yesterday I was delighted to see it was back and already has five beautiful blossoms . Nature is amazing .
Hi folks, Much cooler today. It's been raining steadily since the early hours and due to go on all day. I don't really mind as the garden needs it. Don't know how you garden in such high temperatures @Ante1 I didn't do anything yesterday apart from watering. Nothing planned today apart from lazing around.
Thank you all for concern and kind words. I missed a chat with you last week.Â
Yvie, I literally hate summer and high temperatures, but can't let down my crops now when all grown very good. I use a high protection sun creme and liters of water.
It was quite restful day. Only the temperature is huge PITA. I didn't turn on air condition so far, but next week I should, at least before bedtime. Only good news is that we have two more school days, and pupils have summer breaks.
Good afternoon everyone. Busy, I can well imagine it will have been uncomfortable in the hall after yesterday's temperature.
Hazel I was sorry to hear about your brother and the memories the Lake District must hold for you. I hope that some of them are happy ones.
I had a full on, no holds barred cat fight in the kitchen today. Twice Lily has been visited by a new cat in the neigbourhood and today it had the temerity to come into the kitchen and eat Lily's food. My fault really as I had left the door open as I was to-ing and fro-ing. Lily, uttering the most unearthly noises went for it. When I went to investigate the 'visitor' fled and was chased down the garden by Lily. I went after them because it was squaring up to Lily and I shooed it away. It went behind the shed and the fight continued. As I went round the shed the other cat fled over my neighbour's fence. I had to tell Lily that she was a good girl!
I've had a phone call with Jack too. He makes me smile. He wanted to know if I knew of a record shop or one that sells CDs in town. I had to explain that these were as rare as hen's teeth these days and I asked him what he was after. He said he wanted a special song with Bette Midler singing - Wind Beneath My Wings. I told him I would see if I could find it for him. Got sorted on that well know online auction site and I should have the CD by 23rd - according to them. He told me he wanted it for a special person who loved this song. I'll find out later who and why!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I've spent some time today packing and loading my car. There are about 4 carrier bags of groceries, books and stuff, mostly for my children in France. I've been trying to wash the pigeon poos off the car but some are almost impossible, set like concrete. Don't want customs accusing me of bringing in bird 'flu! It's already there anyway.
OH has booked dinner in a local pub, final last fling before we go back to France. We'll be staying with his daughter tomorrow in Eastbourne then ferry from Newhaven on Monday. Staying with Daughter 1 near Poitiers on Monday night.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh my word! We are just cruising on the ship today (no excursions available) but what scenery we are passing. We're back in the fjords with huge chunks of ice floating by because we're surrounded by glaciers. The weather is still fine and sunny and it's warm if you can stay in the sun but very chilly in the shade. No breeze.
We're supposed to be sailing to the head of Tracey Arm but, nearer the head, we can see many newly born seal pups on the ice floes. The wake of the ship disturbs them & forces them into the water. This cruise prides itself on low environmental impact (it's a hybrid electric ship like a hybrid car with excellent waste management etc policies) so the captain has taken the decision to just remain stationary for a while, enjoy the view and leave the wildlife alone. Nobody minds - we all came to enjoy the nature.
After about an hour we'll head off to see some different fjords.
Sorry - internet too slow for photos - try later.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Gosh T'Bird, that sounds positively idyllic and a very considerate Captain. It must be lovely seeing those little seals. Plenty of ice for the G&T's then.
Busy, if I don't manage to see you again before you go, I wish you bon voyage and look forward to hearing all about what is new at your house in France - Ă bientĂ´t!
