Ante Using a tractor sounds much more practical for the final stage of earthing up 👍 Hazel Sorry to hear your Clematis is not performing as well as it should, hopefully you’ll get the NM and have the abundant flowers to enjoy,
Goodnight LB You’ve had a very productive time in the garden, Montana sounds a beast when it gets going. Signing out for tonight, Goodnight everyone.
@Busy-Lizzie so very sorry to read of the damage to your home. I do hope you can save your beautiful table. Water damage can cause such problems, hopefully once dried out its not as bad. Hope you and OH get some sleep and you feel better soon. Sending very best wishes, take care. @Chivetalking can understand your mum's decision, she's been through so much the past few months. Hope the procedure she's had done heals soon and she isn't in too much discomfort. Sending very best wishes to you both. @Songbird-1 yes noticed lots of well known faces and thought I would enjoy it, but it seemed rather strange. Perhaps I'll try again. Hope you find a Nelly Moser, they are so pretty. We has them in our other house, but they don't seem to like it this garden 🤷♀️ Hope your headache clears and you get a good nights sleep.
Hazel - I've used all the suppliers LB has recommended & they're all decent companies to deal with. I would say though, that most of my clematis seem to take 3 years before they really get going so (depending how long yours has been in the ground) I wouldn't necessarily give up on it.
BL - what a horrid start to your return to France. I restored an antique table after water damage (leaking bath waste pipe) if that's any consolation. Had to strip it and re-wax it but now you wouldn't know there was ever a problem. Hope you feel better soon.
So now it's confession time for me. These last 2 or 3 days on the boat have not been great because I've not been well. There is Covid on the boat and I've had 3 nights of bad coughing (so very little sleep for either of us), lots of aching joints, an absolutely splitting headache yesterday which nearly drove me to distraction despite medication accompanied by nausea which caused a couple of bouts of upchucking.
Consequently I've had no alcohol since Friday 😱 and I've eaten hardly anything since Saturday. I have zero energy, keep falling asleep as soon as I sit down. I don't have any LFT'S with me but I'm trying to do the decent thing and stay in the cabin as much as possible and trying to keep well away from others which isn't much fun. Everybody is masked up outside cabins and there are a lot of health & safety precautions..
Today we were booked to go on a sea otter / whale spotting excursion but the boat had technical problems so it was cancelled. It was disappointing - but not as much as if I'd been fighting fit.
Instead we walked up to the raptor rescue centre in Sitka where we saw injured but still beautiful bald eagles, hawks and owls. Most of the birds are treated & released back into the wild but they have a hardy core of creatures which were too badly injured to ever survive on their own so we were able to watch them being fed etc. They are kept under very natural conditions which is good to see.
I'll see if any of the photos on my phone are worth posting.
Fingers crossed I feel better tomorrow. OH has gone for dinner but I really couldn't face the smell of food tonght. The last couple of days haven't been much fun for him either but he's been very kind looking after me.🥰
Tomorrow we head into Icy Bay where (as the name suggests) we should see plenty of ice floes and glacial action.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good morning T'Bird and all to follow (Wot no Rosie?)
Gutted to hear you are not feeling your chirpy self T'Bird. Shame that the boat was out of action and you missed seeing those little cutie sea otters but, as you are poorly, you probably wouldn't have gone anyway. It must have been wonderful seeing all those stunning birds though and it's nice that a home has been provided for those birds unable to go back to the wild. Did you see any Sitka spruces whilst ashore? Take care T'Bird and get better soon. Hope you feel well enough for a G&T soon!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
SGL, I must admit to getting lost somewhat with the Sherwood story and I've watched all episodes so far. It might be one of those stories where all will become clearer in the last episode. I will persist in viewing it.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hazel, as T'Bird mentioned I, too, have used all of those suppliers I gave you the links for and have been very happy with their services. You do need to be patient with clemmies though.

T'bird, I hope you will soon be better and could enjoy in your wonderful holiday.
I'm free at last, well, free from students. 😁 Today is state holiday and only grocery shops and restaurants are open. I don't mind because it will be day for stay in. It's quite hot. Tomorrow I have haircut appointment at 1pm.
Good Morning Topbird, LB, Ante and all to follow, Topbird Sorry to hear you have been feeling poorly, I hope you soon improve and it doesn’t spoil your trip. The raptors must have been spectacular to see up close, hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy Icy Bay, LB Hope it will be another day in the garden for you, I seem to have lost the Eryngium I planted there’s no sign of it anymore 🤷🏻♀️ Is yours growing well? Ante Enjoy a rest day, a cup of tea is a great start ☕️
Hazel I hope your headache cleared away and you got a good sleep, Enjoy your day everyone.
