PS - These time differences are doing my head in - especially when I start writing something in the morning and finish it in the afternoon. College Fjords tomorrow - more icy experiences😎
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
PPS - Just visiting a knitter's paradise store and being on this voyage has reminded me to tell the several knitters we have on this thread that your skills are needed.
When penguins are rescued from oil spillages etc they need extra insulation and people the world over knit tiny jumpers for penguins.
Google 'Jumpers (or sweaters?) for Penguins' and you'll see some fine examples and maybe a link to some patterns. When we have more stable internet I'll try to find the right pattern website.
Just thought some of you might like to put your skills to good environmental use!

Talk about skills @Topbird, you have a skill for writing. Glad you are feeling better. I am too but my body temperature control is still all wrong. I haven't lost my sense of taste though.
It's raining. The forecast for Norfolk for the next few days is better than here, warmer too.
I hope you have a lovely visit with your Mum @Chivetalking.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning everyone, We didn't the storms forecast either @Ladybird4 and its dry outside, so didn't get any rain.....unless it was light and dried up already. Shame as I didn't water anything 🤦♀️ Enjoy a mooch round the Market and canasta LB. @Topbird glad you're starting to feel better. I have a lovely image of lots of penguins in jumpers waddling along 🐧🐧🐧 @Chivetalking have a lovely day with your mum. Hope she's ok, sending best wishes. @Songbird-1 glad you've found a Nelly Moser. They are a pretty clematis 🌸🌸 @Busy-Lizzie hope you feel better soon, have a restful day. @wfnp5bk4spsSNFYKh1 hope you're well, take care. Sun is shining, hoping for another lovely day. Popping out to the shops this morning. Have a good day everyone
Went AWOL yesterday. After a couple of hours work early doors, I was actually in a position to bu33er off on my travels. Picked youngest up from work and bought a couple of plants that she fancied in her STEEP front garden. There was barely room in the car, which resembled a jungle already. Then she sat in the sunshine deciding which plant she wanted from the selection and where she wanted dad to plant it - it's a hard life
There was quite a lot of slate chippings buried under the weed-ridden, barren, little section which made the job a bit harder and longer than I had. I'll go back next week and finish the job (plant the stuff still in pots) but it looks a lot better already (her garden is as far as the artificial lawn bits )
Youngest's boyfriend's dad did the sloping top tier so I've got 3 questions:-
1) Is there some kind of who-has-the-best-parents competition going on that I don't know about ?
2) Who is going to be selected to sort out the 3rd and final (bottom) tier?
3) Are the young, healthy twenty-somethings actually going to lift a finger at any point
Chive has reminded me to say it was LB's photo of the watering can cat in his Christmas jumper that really made me think of the penguins needing little sweaters. But that was over 12 hrs, a G&T and 2 large glasses of wine ago - so forgive me for not saying so earlier. It was a lovely pic.
I decided early on in this holiday that every time I see a sea otter it gives me such a leap of pleasure (and not just me judging from the silly sounds on the boat!) that it probably adds an hour to my life. After today I may live to be 100. Prince William Sound is full of the little darlings.
Apparently they're about 5' long, heavy as heck and very fierce when approached - but they just look so cute with their button noses and eyes and squished up faces. Sorry - gone all American now - definitely time for bed!

Hello there T'Bird, Chive, Busy, SGL, Biglad and Ruby.
T'Bird, as ever, a truly interesting discussion of your cruise. I meant to say yesterday that when you mentioned Cordova my immediate thought was of Spain and I wondered if there had been any connection. I am prone to random musing! I did go and look it up and discovered that there is a Cordoba in Spain - known for good leather and silver work. Interestingly, well to me anyway, the letter 'b' in Spanish sounds like the letter 'v' in English, so maybe a connection there?
Sorry that the G&T was a bit disappointing. You will have to drink at least one every day now just to make sure you get completely better. Years back Bestie and I knitted little coats for penguins (and battery chickens) but eventually we were told that they had enough and that excess coats would be used for soft toys and sold off to help the Penguin Foundation. I wouldn't mind knitting more if they are needed. They all had to be 100% wool.
I hadn't realise that sea otters were that long T'Bird. As long as you and I are tall! They are still cute.
Chive, have a super catch up with your Mum when you get to her's later.
Biglad, you have done a great job helping your youngest with her garden. I love the stone retaining walls too. In answer to your questions:
1. Not that I know of.
2. You of course.
3. Don't be silly!
Ruby, thanks for giving us an update on Rosie. Hope that you get into your garden today.
If I have missed anyone - apologies. I'll catch up later when I get home.
