@Topbird, I've had a talk with the electrician, but not about the radiators yet. He hopes to finish the work in the autumn, he didn't want to go over the estimate he gave me and it was all more complicated than he realised. Problem is that there aren't enough electricians or plumbers here and he is now helping people who have damaged houses after the hail storm.

OH has a much milder version of what I have, he's had 4 vaccinations. I'm starting to feel better, but it's tiring.

Oops, I've just woken up on the sofa,  so very tired this evening.  Will say night night everyone, sleep well and sweet dreams 😴
  • Top bird seeing the bears playing will have been lovely.  Busy hope you have a few days rest.  Goodnight everyone.  Lily hope you went to bed.

Hazel - I don't think you'd stay in that water for long - it's about 2C🥶 All zodiacs, kayaks etc have a buddy with them so if somebody ends up in the water there's somebody there to offer immediate assistance. You wouldn't survive for long without a proper suit.

We had a brilliant day. The glaciers here are truly majestic. They are surprisingly noisy - lots of creaking, cracking and sounds like canon firing. When they calf the sound echoes round the fjord.  We saw lots of smaller calvings and onehuge one while we were out. We watched it fall, watched the shooters pop up from under the water, watched the tsunami forming and then scooted back to a safe distance PDQ so the wave was only about a metre high when it reached the boat. Caused one of the icebergs in the bay to roll over. Glad we have experienced guides who know how to let us see stuff safely.

Farewell drinks now - we leave tomorrow morning🥹

Good evening Topbird and Good Morning to all,
Topbird So pleased you got to see the brown bear Mum & cubs on your outing, must be incredible to see them in the wild. The college fjords sounds another fabulous experience, the sounds of the glaciers moving and watching the aftermath of a calf falling. Hope you get to enjoy the farewell drinks tonight, it’s been wonderful hearing about this trip 😊

LB Sorry to see your trip to canasta was thwarted by the weather yesterday, on the plus side your garden has been well watered,
Busy Hope you can get the electrics sorted out, waiting until the Autumn seems a long time. Glad you are starting to feel better, hope OH is too,
Hope you managed to get back off to sleep once in bed SGL,
Rosie I hope you had a good sleep too,
Hazel That was nice of you to do that for your MIL. Mums leg is more comfortable now thank you, it’s always going to be misshapen but it no longer hurts so she is willing to live with what she has. She can move around indoors using sticks and we have a wheelchair for any excursions,
Think an early brew is needed ☕️ Have a good day everyone.

A very good morning Chive and all. Oh wow T'Bird, another stunning photograph and how wonderful to see the bear with her babies. I love seeing them on the documentaries on TV and the baby bears so inquisitive - standing on tippy toe to look at things they are not really sure about. You brought back a memory too. In my last year in school (as a pupil) we had a school trip to Switzerland and one of our outings was to visit the Rhône glacier. We were actually able to walk right inside it for quite a long way. It was a beautiful sapphire blue inside and it creaked and squeaked all the time which was slightly unnerving. I bet it has all melted now but it was awesome. What a superb cruise you have had T'Bird, you will be sad it is coming to a close but what magical memories you will carry with you forever.
Chive it is nice to hear that your Mum is quite happy now having made the decision about her leg.

Good morning Rosie, you snuckered in there. How are you and Alfie this morning? Lily is - surprise surprise - asleep again after having her breakfast.

Good Morning LB, Thank you yes things seem much less angst now. I hope your weather is being kinder to you today, will there be an opportunity to get out into the garden? Weird I can’t see a post from Rosie, eating is classed as an activity isn’t it? 😸

    Morning all.

@Chivetalking I'm glad your Mum's leg isn't hurting any more.

I slept quite well, only one burst of coughing and I'm feeling a lot better than I was. Really want to feel up to making a start on the garden. Not today though, it will be cool and wet and I'm not quite up to it yet. I think it's warmer in the UK.
