Certainly better than the last 2 days, thanks LB, but got very tired, wobbly and damp when I went outside to inspect the garden again and the outbuilding rooves.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I didn’t think you were ignoring me LB .You have had a lovely day mooching . I hope your poppies thrive . I have grown one to flowering for the first time this year . Very pleased with it .
Evening everyone, @Busy-Lizzie glad you're feeling a bit better. How is your OH. @Chivetalking yes thank you, had a lazy afternoon in relaxing in the garden. Its been beautiful again today. The forecast for today has so far been wrong, but we could get the storms tonight. @Songbird-1 and @Ladybird4 I have a selection too....blank cards, anniversary, thank you cards, get well etc. There's quite a few, but not always one suitable for a particular person. 🤣 Pretty cat LB Which reminds me the little black cat 🐈⬛ that @Biglad posted a pic of was sweet too. But I do know what he means by neighbours cats visiting my garden. One in particular comes in to bother the birds 🐦 😢
Busy, be careful that you don't do too much too soon. Work at things slowly.
I've just been down the garden to shut up the GH, startled a big frog who was hiding in the undergrowth, and noticed that it has been raining. It was only very light and not enough as yet to be of any use. Hope more arrives in the night.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
A very good morning one and all. Well the thunderstorm I was hoping for never happened - unless I slept right through it! It does look as though the light rain persisied for a while as the paths are damp. I've got Canasta today and I may go earlier to mooch in the market first. Whatever you all have planned for today, make it a good one!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good evening / morning all. Feeling much brighter today and my appetite has mostly returned. Yesterday I was half fancying some chicken soup and a spoonful of curry and rice. Today's lunch choice included fish soup and butter chicken so I'm a very happy bunny.
Realised once I started eating that my sense of taste is just not right - so guess it was definitely Covid. All other symptoms have gone.
Some very interesting lectures this morning about ocean currents, bird migration and local history. A crew fire drill, sea otters to watch and an interesting session in the science lab with the microscopes comparing water samples taken at a couple of different points in the last few weeks. I was worn out by lunch time!
This afternoon took a 30 minute tender ride into Cordova where I spent more than I should have in a crafty / arty shop. It was a shop predominantly for the port's women to provide them with craft supplies and workshop / social activities throughout the long cold dark Alaskan winters. The owner has also formed lots of groups doing esssentially variou stitch and bi*ch sessions.
She has great taste and has some lovely watercolour paints (bought some!) and the most exquisite knitting and sewing yarns (it made me want to knit!) - many of them from the UK. She runs a traditional Gansey jersey knitting group using traditional yarns and patterns from Shetland.
I introduced them to 'Duttons for Buttons' in York and the assistant took one look at their website and was beyond excited. (That's another shop I just love from my time living in York.)
Good dinner on the cards tonight and a complimentary solstice cocktail to wash it all down. First G&T in over a week and I couldn't taste that I'd paid a premium for my favourite Tanqueray No 10. Bu$$er - it'll be back to Gordons regular tomorrow.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
