Good evening (?) T'Bird and Good morning Ruby and Biglad. I second Biglad T'Bird - loving your travelogue and today's pictures. As I brought in the last of the wet things - yep, still wet, it was just starting to drizzle and there must have been quite a bit of Marti in the night as my garage has puddles on its roof. Hopefully thats it for now. The garden beckons.
Ruby, I hope that you did get back off to sleep and that picture of your perfect rose is beautiful from any angle - gorgeous!
Yvie, go on, you know you want to! Big huge pot? T'Bird, I love the name of that rose. It reminds me of how I am in the garden these days!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
It's finally weekend. I was at cottage almost every afternoon after school, and now I'm completely exhausted. Today I'll stay at home and just rest. At cottage is a lot to do, and my major job is battle with weeds. I saw few lovely photos here, but need to read back (around 150 posts), and then I'll know what is happening. π Do I need to say that it's again very hot, and next week will be even more.
Good morning Ante and its nice to hear from you. I know how hard it is to stay on top of things in my tiny garden so I think I can appreciate your battles at the cottage. Just for a change Ante, we had hot hot hot temperatures here yesterday and heat is another thing that must make your job at the cottage more of a problem. Hope you use sun screen, a hat and drink loads of water.

Morning everyone, beautiful sunny skies again. Lovely pics @Topbird especially the sunset. Off to see the poppets today.Β Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines for you. Take care everyone.
Thank you for your kind comments people. I know it can be very boring looking at other peoples' holiday snaps so I hope it's not too much.
Ante - I do feel for you managing both a full time job and cultivating a small holding. We all know how much there is to do in even a small garden and especially with vegetables at this time of year. Hot weather / lack of rainfall just make it all much more difficult. Please don't make yourself ill trying to do too much.
We've just enjoyed another very good dinner with plenty of wine and watched the sun going down over distant mountains. I don't think we'll take much rocking tonight. SYL.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I'd normally agree @Topbird, but you're not posting typical holiday snaps. Stunning scenery and glorious wildlife in their beautiful natural habitats. Keep 'em coming!

Have a good day everyone.Β
T'Bird, your pictures never disappoint so please, as Biglad says: 'Keep 'em coming'!
I would have felt extremely uneasy going into a store with so many lethal weapons on display because they are only designed for one purpose. There is a gun shop in the village here, actually based now in an old pub that had closed down. Probably because we are in a big hunting area but mainly prey of the feathered variety and I believe there is a lot of money in pheasant shoots. You have to be 'passed' into the shop (bit like some jewellers too) and passed out. The shop also sells fireworks and I have only used it once and that was at the millenium. I felt very uncomfortable in the shop surrounded by the armaments. It is also a target for many attempted burglaries.
Just finished watering all my pots - rainfall is never enough and I think I might have another cuppa.

More lovely, not at all boring, photos from @Topbird, keep them coming!
Gosh it was warm yesterday, 32Β°. This cottage didn't get too hot indoors, 23Β° in the sitting room, wattle and daub inside with an outer lining of concrete blocks must be quite insulating. Much cooler today.
We enjoyed the play last night and the meal before it in the pub. The pub was in our old village. We haven't been there for a while and it has improved and been decorated. The play was a farce "Rookery Nook" by Ben Travers. The actors forgot their lines several times and I could hear the prompt! The heat in the village hall was rather uncomfortable.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
