Afternoon all, it's been nice and dry here so far and thankfully the garden's still wet from recent heavy bouts of rain and all our water butts are full. I've been busy in the garden having a good tidy up, got masses of unwanted plastic pots so have shoved them out on the drive for people to take away hopefully.
My lovely new multi-coloured sandals have arrived and do fit, by a happy coincidence, one of the straps matches my turquoise toenails!
The plumber also been to look at our shower and will also mend the broken loo flush. it doesn't sound like an electric shower is going to be any better because we have a combi-boiler and apparently our water pressure is lower than it should be. I've rung the water board who have been very efficient, answered straight away and arranged for an inspector to call us within 3 days to fix an appointment.
OH also went to our dentist this afternoon, we've had to go private for many years but I tend to go only once a year as my teeth are generally okay. I do get cross though when the hygienest charges more than the dentist!
We went to Norwich for the day. Hired a mobility scooter for OH, handy because it can carry the shopping too. I was disappointed with M&S, no boot leg jeans, I hate skinny jeans. The dresses all looked as though they were made for women 6 ft tall. The sandals were either clumpy or had heels, can't wear heels anymore. OH couldn't find any cord trousers or trousers with a bit of elastic in the waist, comfier, which they used to do.
Went to John Lewis, only one pair of bootleg jeans - £139! I don't usually feel like a poor person but the prices in that shop are out of reach. We'd wanted a few more nice water glasses as had a couple of breakages, they were expensive too. The ones in Morrisons were enormous. But I did buy a pretty blue embroidered duvet cover to take back to France. We tried Lakeland but they don't do water glasses anymore.
Bon Marché was next to Lakeland and they had plenty of bootleg jeans, perfect fit. I bought 3 pairs, light blue, dark blue and black to take back to France. They only seem to sell hipsters in France that fall down when I walk.
We had lunch in a Norwich pub, sitting outside in the sunshine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Love the sandals @Lizzie27, I struggle with clothes full stop in France @Busy-Lizzie , Asda were good at one point and delivered to France, but I've found M&S very expensive lately. Sticking with clothes I've had years and years in the main.
So hot here, massive storms last night but not cleared the air at all. Plants watered/beaten down and apparently the same this evening.
Funeral party went well today, such a shame, a lovely, lovely lady. Her husband is absolutely lost....poor man. I've told him to pop in for a coffee and a chat anytime, there's always someone to chat to, English or French. Really feel for him.
Garden club meeting here on Saturday, as much as I'd like to have the garden perfect for it, it's impossible, so I'm going for the nature loving approach. I'll give them nice cakes. That'll do.

Made mini Victoria Sandwich cakes today, very sweet, very English, got the baking trays from Lakeland, an absolute hit. Will do the same for Garden Club.

Just popping in to say friend is here … much nattering going on … eating of curry, drinking of beer … I may be AWOL from time to time … sending hugs to anyone who needs them 🤗 🤗 🤗
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Lovely to have an hour pottering in the garden post work today. The plants have loved all the rain. Pond filling back up too so hope the patch repairs have done the job.
Thanks @Busy-Lizzie. I find clothes buying such a pain normally, being under 5ft and old! Didn't like much in M & S either last week. I buy my jeans from Cotton Traders as they do a very short leg length of 27", plus stretch and elasticated waist and pockets!
Mini Victoria Sandwiches sound fun DD.
I like just pottering as well @AuntyRach, one of the great benefits of being retired.

Menorca sounds fab @Yviestevie, enjoy your break.
