There are no NHS dentists to be had in Suffolk where my family live ... I've been with the same NHS practice since I moved to Norwich over 25 years ago ... heaven knows what I'll do when my knees won't climb the narrow winding Georgian staircase up to his floor ... hopefully not yet.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning @Dovefromabove and all other Forkers. Yes - we had a really good downpour in the early hours. Maybe only about 45 mins worth but really heavy. No way I could be lulled back to sleep though - the accompanying lightning display was spectacular and worth getting out of bed to watch. The cracks of thunder were also very loud (didn't wake OH though🙄)
Much needed and the soil now looks rich and black again. Will make doing some hand weeding much easier and means I don't need to try out the new sprinkler just yet.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It was lovely to wake up and see that the garden had had a good watering! Slept through any thunder and lightening. It's spitty spotting again now but although it has gone dark, those clouds don't look too water-laden.
Our dentist is also up a narrow staircase @Dovefromabove. He does have some NHS patients, but I'm not one of them as they took me off the NHS list when I hadn't visited for 2 years, despite that we were in lockdown for much of that time! I'm dreading the next visit - we have gum disease in our family which means that no matter how well one looks after one's teeth they will loosen and eventually all have to come out.
Maybe a trip to a nursery for plants and a visit to the GC for compost may still be on the cards for today - just depends what this weather decides it's going to do.
We are thinking of going to Norwich, OH needs new trousers and I could do with some jeans that aren't hipsters to take back to France. I only like bootcut, hard to find nowadays.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hello all, sorry that you are freezing @Pat E snuggle down in your douvet and sleep tight. I've come indoors to cool down 31deg, I've been struggling with the connectors on the irrigation for the raised beds, I'm blowed if I can remember which connectors go with what each year, I will have to take a photo. We had lightening flashes round about last night but that was all. Have planted out all veg now and melons went out this morning. The MPC is c**p for the tubs this year, in fact It's all bad whether it's the expensive one or cheaper, they all seem to be the same, so doing mixtures with added fertilizer. I see Bojo isn't going to get anymore fines.....interesting. Have a good afternoon all
