Ex husband's visit was huge success, he loved Charlie, Charlie loved him. Tinged with a bit of sadness, he's looking a bit old these days. As, I'm sure am I, but he's definitely gone downhill a bit fast lately. We sat outside in the dark Saturday evening, both feeling a bit sad that all the things we'd hoped for 40 years ago as we got married hadn't quite materialised. I can't quite explain, but he's my absolute soulmate, best friend, everything, but we couldn't stay married. He's gay, he has a husband he adores, but we have a very special connection. I'm happy he's happy, but I miss him in my life.

Also shocked yesterday to learn a friend had died suddenly, only 71, it was cancer, but came on extremely quickly and aggressively. So sad, a lovely, lovely person. We're doing the catering for the funeral, I didn't want to at first, but her husband said she would like that we were there for her. Couldn't say no after that.

Hosting the new Garden Club meeting here on Saturday, slightly embarrassed as the garden is definitely on the wild side at the moment. I think a couple of evenings weeding will help and add in some annuals to fill the gaps and I'll get away with it, I've told them all to wear blinkers. 😅
Have a plan to buy a smaller house with a smaller garden, raised beds and lots of pots, hopefully feel more in control and less stressed about keeping it under control..... A bit off yet though, got to get thru summer madness here. Taken as much money in May so far as we did last August, it's all a bit frightening, we've not been open for the last two years in May because of Covid, 35°degrees today, maybe that's the cause, but who knows.....

Glad you enjoyed the visit by your ex @D0rdogne_Damsel, an unusual situation and as you say, rather a sad one. Hope the Gardening Club visit goes well, don't worry about it they'll be far too busy chatting to notice any weeks if our club is anything to go buy.

@Yviestevie, sounds like you had just the kind to day I enjoy, where are you going? apologies if you've said before.

@Busy-Lizzie and @didyw, I've pm you both (hopefully!).

@Lizzie27 off to Menorca for a few days at Firsborn and SIL villa.  Looking forward to the short break (not quite a week) it's long enough for me.

Brrr!  Hubby’s gadget measured minus 4.2 this morning. The weather channel reported minus 6 in Cooma. No wonder we felt cold. When I peeked out the curtain, there was a heavy layer of frost everywhere. I’m staying in today.  🤭

I haven’t read back yet but will catch up shortly.

Good morning all 😊 ☕️ sounds as if you need a woolly vest @Pat E  🥶
Hopefully @Busy-Lizzie, @didyw, @Topbird and all the other East Anglians will find their water butts nice and full. We had what I think was at least 90 mins of good solid rain in the night … the sort that falls straight down and penetrates the soil … we didn’t need to get up and close the windows, so lying here listening to the steady rainfall quickly lulled us back to sleep.

    Morning all.

We had some rain @Dovefromabove but the water butts are only half full. No violent storms, as far as I know, which had been forecast. I slept well, woke for the loo at 2am, not raining then, when it should have been. Window was open, didn't hear anything.

I spoke to my handy man in France, he's used all the water in 9 butts and wanted to know if he could turn on the mains for watering. It's very hot there, in the 30s. Son's swimming pool is 27C, children jump in as soon as they get back from school.

Morning everyone,  hardly any rain overnight again,  getting desperate here. Lots of lightning and a few distant rumbles of thunder around midnight.  Just as well we watered yesterday.

    Hi all

    We had rain too.
Off to the dentist this morning, no doubt horrendous bill upcoming. We pay a vast amount to train dentists, but then they have no obligation to treat patients on the NHS. Makes me angry.
