    Morning all,

Been awake for hours again. Watched GW and Beechgrove whilst waiting for it to get light. Blue skies again here. My water butt certainly needs rain :o but I'd like a fine, dry weekend in the garden first.

    Morning all.

We need rain here but none is forecast for the next 2 weeks.

We are going to the Farmers Monthly Market. We'll have a bacon roll there for brekkies. This afternoon we are going to an NGS  garden.

I weeded the gravel slope bed yesterday. I planted alpines there 3 years ago but where did that dratted ground elder come from?

Last night we watched Carol Kein's new gardening programme on Chanel 5, enjoyed it. Though she does so much propagating. Where does she find room for it all?

Hello all. In for elevenses. Been chatting over the fence to my neighbour - she did not want to come back from France. I found a clematis that had layered itself from the parent plant on the shed so I have fixed up some support clematis mesh for it. I am happy to report that I saw my first house martin of the year. I'm sure that they will have been spotted further south but it is always exciting to see them as they mean that summer is slowly on its way. Whilst in the garden Robbie the robin sat on the fence the whole time watching me. I am going to take some meal worms for him when I go back out.
Busy, have a great day out today. I've recorded Carol Klein to watch at another time. Enjoy your days everyone.
p.s. its clouding over here and looks like I may get some rain - I do hope not!

I'm glad we went to the Farmer's Market. Met a friend, they had OH's favourite cheese straws, fish man gave me a big discount as he had nearly sold out and a nice Chinese lad was washing cars so he could go pay to go on the school trip. He made a good job of mine, removed all the pigeon droppings. Turned out his father, who came and spoke to us, is the owner of our favourite Chinese restaurant and we know him and the boy has piano lessons from a friend of ours.

Hello all .... and thank you for your kind wishes ... well, we're still feeling fine, and MIL slept well and is feeling a lot better.  Fingers are still crossed tho 🤞

That sounds like a good morning BL.

We have no carpets downstairs, just a hide rug in the sitting room that gets shaken outside, never vacuumed.  We don't have curtains either.  What dust there is can be seen and removed easily  ... it seems much better for OH who used to have asthma, but not since we lived like this with minimal soft furnishings (other than the plumptious sofa  :D)

I've potted up the dahlias which were developing some lovely strong shoots, and watered and checked everything ... the lettuce and chard I planted out the other day still appear happy.  Next gardening job will be to direct-sow some beetroot ... but that can wait until tomorrow ... there are books to read and knitting to do.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone.

I love curtains and I enjoy making them. I hate black windows at night and curtains add decoration, insulation and cosiness. Sometimes I watch "Escape to the Country" and they show barn conversions with huge windows and no curtains and everyone says "Oh how wonderful, what a lot of light is coming in" and I think "If it were mine I'd make curtains". Sorry, Dove

We've just visited a lovely garden, NGS, lots of spring flowers and tulips, and we had coffee and cake. Glad we went early as when we drove off lots of cars were arriving. It opened at 1pm. I'll post photos on Garden Visits.

Afternoon everyone, goodness it's been breezy and chilly today.  The sun is shining at the moment, but it hasn't been here much today.
@Busy-Lizzie I like curtains too, not much of a fan of blinds.....they do look nice, but unable to wash 😕
They look lovely open, but so cosy in the evening when closed, especially during colder months.
I watch Escape to the country sometimes too Busy, I agree about those huge windows, yes they let in so much light and sunshine......but how on earth do you clean them.....well apart from spending a lot of money having them professionally cleaned.  And those really high ceilings.....i always think how do clean those of cobwebs 😂

Sounds like you had a lovely afternoon at the NGS

Ooh hello @Songbird-1 sorry you weren't there just now. Saturday gremlins!
Good to see you Hazel, hope you're a bit better. Sounds like a busy week. Your new bench sounds lovely, hope the nice weather returns so you can sit out and enjoy your garden.
Take care, very best wishes to you and your family.

I forgot to add that on the way back from the garden we passed a plant nursery, @Topbird knows it, in Stanton and I found a clematis "Purpurea Plena Elegans". I've been looking for one for 3 years. I'll plant it tomorrow. I think @Dovefromabove has one.
