@Yviestevie, peas are quite hardy, I would plant them out. I would wait until mid May for the beans though. If they are getting too big you could pinch them out.

Plumbers have been. Stop cock changed, water tank cleaned out and the downstairs loo doesn't drip anymore.

@Busy-Lizzie I'm a bit ignorant on the veg growing thing.  If I pinch to top of the beans out wont it stop them growing taller.  They are about 2-3ft at the moment.

They should make sideshoots, but all the shoots will grow taller anyway. Which variety? I grew Scarlet Emperor. I only suggested that as an emergency measure if they are much too tall by the time you want to plant them out. Normally you don't pinch runner beans. Not too late to sow more anyway. You could do a trial, pinched beans, non pinched and later sown.

  • Lily it’s rather chilly here too an also pottering indoors.  LB did sm shop early, very quiet, so much easier.  I hope you slept. Went in with the staff today and wished a good morning.  Chive I hope school went well today.  Hazel I hope you’re happy with your bench.  I’ve had something arrive without messaging too.  Yvie hope the shoes fit and you’re looking forward to Jonah’s birthday.  I’ve been on the phone renewing broadband and finally a reasonable deal as had gone up by an extra £20 out of contract, an hour on the phone though and two transfers but thankfully sorted. Alfie’s been resting on my knee.  Busy you’ll be glad to have your plumbing sorted.

@Busy-Lizzie they are scarlet emperor.  I'll see how they go.  Will probably know in a couple of days if they are going to be OK.

Hello all. I've had another full gardening day so I'm feeling rather tired now. I have a clear spot in one of my borders - well I say clear but at the moment I am plagued by celandines. I know that they disappear in the summer but they don't half get in the way when you are trying to plant things out. Note to self - be patient. I got rid of loads and the bigger of my two green bins is now stuffed full. Tomorrow I will have to get the half size bin out for the first time this year.
Hazel, that is excellent news about your bench. It was good that you were around to receive it. I bet your OH has finished putting it together. It will be so nice to sit out there on the warm days with a nice cuppa or cold drink.
Busy, good news that you managed to get a plumber to sort out the overflow problem. Pity he couldn't sort out the squirrel problem as well. Hope that your poor heuchera bits recover.
RosieBB, I got a good reduction from VM when I rang up and asked them how I could save money - as I mentioned earlier this month. Its amazing what they can come up with when they think you might leave them - I am out of contract with them so they fell over themselves to offer me the better deal. Its all a game to them isn't it?
p.s. Yvie, its on trend to wear trainers with your dresses these days.

Hello all, lovely day here. Bright and sunny but I do wish we could have just an hour of rain for the garden. Seems crazy watering in April.
Work fine and then a trip to cinema with my sister to watch The Lost City. I can definitely recommend it. Very amusing and feel good film.

Gosh, LB, Celandines! I have the same problem. They are pretty but so in the way.

Oh well done Hazel and your OH. It will be so nice to just have a quiet sit whenever weather permits and you feel like a bit of wellbeing time. You are right, I lose track of school holiday times these days but then for we retired people every day is a holiday.
I am signing out for tonight. Must go and put my milk bottle out too before I forget. See you all in the morning. Enjoy your evenings.

    Evening everyone,
Aww, so pleased your new bench has arrived and that you and OH have put it together already. I'm sure you'll enjoy sitting on it during the day and on warm summer evenings.
How lovely you have all had lovely days either in your garden and or cinema visits.
It's been sunny here but windy and very chilly.  Did spend a little time in the garden this morning, but it was so cold I had to come indoors.
    Have a lovely evening everyone.
