I'm getting more and more partial to HT's, and what a great colour 'Deep Secret' is. Have you had it long, and how does it stand up to the northern weather.
I planted it in 2019, and it holds up to rain really well. Like all hybrid teas it loves sun but I would plant it somewhere protected from the strongest sun of the day, as it’s so dark it will crisp on the edges. That is the only downside I would say.
  • Maybe it's just a bad year for fungal disease generally - i have powdery mildew and blackspot ( and various versions of what looks like black spot on other ornamentals) when i don't normally suffer. I'm thinking its a combination of the mild winter / erratically humid and warm conditions since ( and in my case ) vine weevils which leave plants susceptible to catching everything else going -  i've tried to organically tolerate /manage for the last couple of years but ( once flowering is done in each case so risk to other things is minimal) I'm going to have to resort to drastic chemical measures in some pots. I've tried nematodes, but haven't worked for me ( or at least not well enough) , so am thinking a combination at different times in the year of these and harder stuff.
Kindness is always the right choice.

...no worries, I've often potted up weeds thinking I had something rare and unusual..  I might have misled you originally about it in any case..    the hips are the best for culinary purposes should you have a wildish area you want to plant it, ..
I'm glad I posted my update. If I hadn't, I'd have planted and nurtured a triffid for goodness knows how long.
Nicely illustrates that it is better to ask your question than not.

I too an quite disappointed with David Austin's 2 new offerings this year. I purposely didn't buy Elizabeth because I didn't like the washed out pink colour in the marketing pictures, but got Bring me Sunshine because I am missing that colour.
Well here is a picture of both new roses take at Chelsea Flower show, a lovely pink rose and a yellow! Also my BMS is covered with Powdery mildew which I'm fighting against unsuccessfully.
Is that bring me sunshine behind Elizabeth?
