Beautiful roses everyone! @Marlorena as I already told you last year, I am utterly envious of your wonderful Mutabilis
thanks @Victoria Sponge for the info about Parkdirector, I think I’ll give it a try this autumn.
@murasaki, I planted my MAC at the end of 2019 and now (in barely 3 years) she is about 4 m tall. This year she gave me a good flush of flowers on middle April and then nothing, but mine is a a very shady spot, she takes sun only for a couple of hours in the afternoon (now that she has gone over the wall the upper part will take sun for a food part of the afternoon, let’s hope she will bloom more often). Here is an awful pic I took in May, flowers already almost gone but lasted for a long time. I could not take some better photos because soon after I got Covid.
Heres my latest... away for a few days with hubby but garden left in a friends care for watering
First blooms on "Megan" new Hulthemia from styles. This one is a standard as I fancied another. Im delighted with it.summer songpheno geno 'peach' Summer song again Lady emma hamilton, gorgeous
Summer Song is such a splendid colour, @JessicaS. Never seen a hulthermia standard- bet that's gorgeous. Can we please have a lollipop shot? I would like one more standard for my garden next year and am having a lovely headache trying to choose...Â
More downpours overnight and the garden is a mess.
'Joie de Vivre' with lavender 'Joie de Vivre' and 'Super Excelsa' Clematis 'Amethyst Beauty' starting, this does very well for me. A shorter one, June flowering, very good with roses. NoID red My favourite noID HT looking very good this year but it's a bit late starter. 'La Belle Rouge' 'Agnes Schilliger' survived the dieback. A very unique spicy fragrance with a noticeable hint of cinnamon with something fruity to it too. Phenogeno 'Mileva'/'Renee van Wegberg'. Delicate petals, dislikes rain, but has a strong raspberry fragrance that wafts.
I don't think your garden looks at all a mess @edhelka, it looks very lush and summery.
Some close-ups starting with Alba Maxima Hot Chocolate Stephanie d'Ursel Chateau de Munsbach. I think that dead bit is a deadhead from Penelope behind it that I didn't throw far enough Two of Belle de Jour. I'm not sure what colour it is. The obvious answer here would be yellow but sometimes it looks anywhere from white to peach and I think I've spotted a change before in just a few hours...my preference would be for the yellow
cont'd with Celestial, the rains haven't been heavy enough (so far) to demolish the plant so still fairly upright Second flower on my new Cardinal de Richelieu, spotty leaves as previously mentioned, slightly pinker here I think than in real life. It has a sprig of linaria tucked behind its ear. I didn't ask. I think I'm going to love this new one, The Bishop. The gardener is an incompetent buffoon and allowed a large geranium to slouch on it, hence me having to support it here. It only has slender stems and I've cut the geranium back so hopefully it has time to regain some shape before next year. Flowers look huge here but I would say they are about 3" Tuscany, with flowers in various stages. I had to crop a bit of it out as I realised two of the bins have my address on. Leah Tutu survived the recent showers despite the heavy blooms, Fountain less so but the floppy flowers look kind of sweet
Oh your Roald Dahl is a nice colour @Athelas. The first few flowers on my potted RD were a sort of manila by the time I noticed them. Stephanie d'Ursel stands behind it in the ground and the two merged for a while. An update on my pheno geno Draga (Hallie) below. I like it a lot. It held onto the sun crisped flowers for a while and I cut them off when it produced some new ones. I'm going to get another one. Originally I wanted Zara but I have so many roses of that colour I will likely get Lily instead. Another quality red, Flanders. Lark Ascending behind it is on a break (those yellows are Julia Child) but has sent up a fresh bundle of canes at the back where it was slightly more sparse on growth. It is never untidy, just bountiful. I only stake it to stop it sitting on Flanders head. Summer scene at Sponge Corner
Summer Sweetheart, still going although I have done the first deadhead.
Sorry for the blanket of posts, just trying to avoid slowing people's internet. Mine has been terrible for a few months now and I've grudgingly decided to upgrade.
Sneak preview of Gallica Georges Vibert, new this year from bare root. I bet it will flower next week when I am back at work and won't have time to look at it. I'm going to have to move that astrantia, I deliberately put it there even though there is loads of space to the right. That buffoonish gardener again

I know it’s still early days, but how are you all liking your Pheno Genos?
We had some much-needed rain last night — Roald Dahl is getting ready for a second flush
