..pretty buds, I thought that was a pink rose, I must have got mixed up..
..no hail here, but looks ominous outside..
.what's all this fuss about forum colours..? I usually access the site via saved bookmarks so rarely look at 'recent discussions' as it's usually chat threads, but I just looked and several topics about some forum changes.. All I can see is a bit of green at the top..
@Nollie yes, that's what they said. it appears 1.5 m height is the norm here, and about 2m wide. i have downloaded the pic from that forum, the red one in the middle is Munstead Wood!
'Open Arms' doing well despite all this awful weather...can't remember the last time the thermometer hit 16 degrees in these parts. Great comp. by the way @Marlorena with your 'my view today' pic.
@Marlorena they are all gorgeous!!! and your view is like a fairy tale😍 Tottering is just too beautiful! do you think it would fade much in the sun?
i also like Blush Noisette very much, it's her second year here.
now already fading:
Last autumn I planted Angela next to it, i thought they would go well together, climbing a wire fence behind. But it looks like Angela is too exuberant for the shy BN, i hadn't expected such an intense pink colour😅 they are both extremely floriferous!
Are we sure that’s Munstead? The colour looks more like Thomas A Beckett, of course it’s hard to say without a closeup.
I thought so as well, flowers are not as dark, growth shape is different and considering the size of other plants next to it, that doesnt look like munstead wood.
@andrewnewton .. A good sized obelisk gives you more opportunity, but if you really want 'GJ' then go with that, it's fantastic when in full flush and everyone admires it, but it is prickly and not the easiest rose to handle. In my garden I had a big gap between flushes which irritated me. The colour, a deeper, richer pink, is quite different to all the others you've got, - I've had all those at one time.. Dunham Massey and Harlow Carr are much smaller roses. 'GJ' would soon ascend your support.. several members here have it, as you would expect..
If there are any other roses you like, just ask about them..
@Marlorena Many thanks for the advice and info. I'm not totally set on Gertrude Jekyll but looking online it seemed to meet most of my requirements. However if anyone else has any suggestions - doesn't have to be a DA rose all ideas welcomed
@peteS do you give Open Arms any support? I like it's naturalistic look and wondered if it's strong enough to be self supporting, especially in windy weather?

Newbie, my daughter shares your unreasonable affection for snails and so they are suffered to live here, with very bad grace on my part.
Did anyone else have that prolonged horror hail storm just now? I was worried about Rose des Cisterciens's beautiful buds, but they seem OK for now.
