Visited David Austin today with work colleagues .. have added Scarborough Fair, The Lark Ascending and The Lady's Blush to my collection (Kew Gardens, Gertrude Jekyll, Munstead Wood, Gabriel Oak, Tottering By Gently, The Generous Gardener, Desdemona, Jude the Obscure, a Rugosa, plus a couple of ramblers). We had a lovely day!
Amazing day had me looking who has stock which is a first for this season. It is so pretty and unusual @edhelka. I managed to resist thank goodness. Your chandos beauty really is stunning @pitter-patter.
Some lovely little blooms on mary delany! Have to say this has been the best of all the bare roots I bought, loads of growth and buds, healthy foliage, it’s been great!! I hope it carries on the way
BMS looks absolutely terrible, variegata di bologna has some strong growth but still suffering from mildew, blue moon isn’t doing anything, no new growth but nothing dying so I’m hoping that means it’s working on it’s roots! The roses I got from pococks have been great too
Lovely photos everyone. @pitter-patter your chandos beauty standard is a beauty. @edhelka Amazing Day too. Roses yet to open: Papa Meilland, Frilly Cuff, Macmillan nurse rose, all new this year. Super Dorothy is just getting started. Paul's Himalayan musk is badly affected by mildew. A collage of photos taken late yesterday evening: (clockwise from left) Parfum Royal, Masquerade, Serenade, unknown HT, Prague, unknown floribunda, Gruss an Aachen with Perdita in the centre.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
