..doesn't matter about size as you can prune to shape and situation, but if you don't prune then both are capable of 6-8 feet by 6 feet across..
Tottering is yellow with larger flowers and has average thorns, KG is mainly white but thornless.
Both vigorous growers and continuous bloom..  Health is similar, Tottering gets a little rust in my garden but I hardly notice..
I no longer have Kew Gardens as I'm downsizing here..  I only have about 30 roses left..

.. re your rambler... you can cut back as much as you need to do, even to near ground level, but if you can, try to retain any fresh new growth that has appeared from the base, but if you can't do that then you will just have to cut back whatever is required.  You will be bound to lose flowers for next year as a result, but needs must..
In autumn, your rose should still send up more basal growth, it's Alberic Barbier isn't it? or am I mistaken?.. by which time your fence will be done, and you can tie the new growth for flowers next year..
@Marlorena Hope you are on the mend. Many thanks for the advice. I think you may be correct that it's Alberic Barbier. Hopefully wont lose it altogether but it's given me an excuse to clear out the border a bit and attempt to get rid of some old lilac suckers.
My gardening at the moment seems to be going through the destructive stage !!

Really pleased to receive in the post today a full sized David Austin Handbook of Roses, Special 60th Edition - interesting reading so far with beautiful photography but the rather twee gender referencing grates on me somewhat. They never used to refer to roses as 'he' or 'she'.

I only get irritated when people on FB say Gabrielle/Gabriella Oak and call Jude the Obscure a she. Then I raise a pedantic eyebrow.

You know, in Italian there’s not “it’ and so the word “rose” is a “she” for us (yes, even if the rose has a male name like Gabriel Oak). It’s kind of difficult for me to remember that in English I must use “it” for things that are not people, lol

@Eustace your roses are beautiful, I like very much the colour of Crown Princess Margareta. Does it get big? Is it disease and shade resistant?

@Marlorena thank you for the kind answer, I now have a better idea where to put each.

Sorry to hear of your Covid @purplerallim hope you get well soon. Beautiful collection of yellow/white roses there @Nollie, I think I am going to introduce some yellow roses too here, next year
