@dabolem what a great selection of purple roses! I have looked at them and now I am wanting all! Initially I thought I would only like many pettaled roses but now I have fallen for the less pettaled /semi double beauties! Should I blame the entire forum for a bad bad influence 😂
@Rojas, Soul is heat resistant but yes it’s blooms spoil in rain, especially if rain hits open blooms, but if they are not fully open you can sometimes peel back outer layers and the rest is fine. This one (posted earlier) got caught and you can see the scruffy outer petals:
Stormy Weather starts more burgundy but fades to a dusky purple (it’s my avatar pic). Most of my purples go bright pink in very hot temps. I’m just heading out but will try and post some pics later..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Rain in Bedfordshire... the first in a very very very long time. Thank God.
There has to be German word for "the joy of seeing your waterbutt, empty since the dawn of time, suddenly 3/4 full!"
So happy I didn't even consign this little toerag on my Lavender Lassie to the fate he deserved. I think it was @newbie77 who photographed a snail on her roses earlier this year?! I remember being amazed...
The Lark Ascending is glowing in the murk out there.
@WhereAreMySecateurs. I grew Falstaff in my last garden in a large pot. Although not a continuous bloomer, it did have two distinct flushes and occasionally a single bloom or two in between.
It rained here too yesterday night and today morning. Everything needed a nice soak after my time away and hosepipe ban has come in force. Very happy with the rain. Waterbutts have filled up too.
@WhereAreMySecateurs, yes I had posted a photo of snail in rose. They do look cute all snuggled up. Lots of them going around in lawn and patio today.
I have more lovely rain at the moment. Hot and humid conditions have meant the return of my old friend blackspot though, really bad on Golden Celebration and Buff Beauty. You win some you lose some!
Stormy Weather pics for @Rojas from previous year. It didn’t do too well in this year’s searing temperatures because it fried espaliered on the metal fence, normally it’s fine there:
