I still haven't managed to finish digging over this bed. The soil is so hard, it's full of grass, bindweed and horsetail. Such a chore! Nearly there though and I cleared enough to be able to feed and mulch around the roses at least. Give them a fighting chance this year!
At home the climbers are all looking good, but my best looking shrub has to be Desdemona, the foliage is such a nice colour and so healthy looking. Lots of buds coming now too. Always stop to admire.
@Fire - the warm weather's made you go all soppy! I agree though it's a nice place here.Â
Some of the buds are starting to get fat now, especially that leafy one I found on Royal Jubilee the other day.
This thread has been a haven of peace for me during a very long winter of hard work after Storm Arwen when normal gardening seemed a world away. I've always enjoyed reading it and seeing the beautiful roses and gardens. I don't have as many roses as some, and only started to grow them in pots last year, but have tried to learn from everyone's experiences. There's so much knowledge, kindness and encouragement here .Thank you all.
@Fire you could ask your neighbour to take some photos and share with you. I am lucky to have kind neighbours who water my potted roses and share photos, during my family's absence this whole month. I do share bareroots, cuttings and rose blooms with them to say thanks for their help.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
