@WhereAreMySecateurs My bareroot Harlow Carr standard came with a stake and ties. That was some three years ago. Alas, no more roses for me. Though I was really tempted by @Marlorena’s photos of Forever Royal.Â
I’m trying to be firm with myself @Lizzie27 so not helping 😆 I am still awaiting confirmation and it might change again if things go out of stock, but this is what I’ve ordered and provisionally what they are bumping off:
Versigny - to replace Super Trouper, which I didn’t get on with Souvenir de St Annes - to replace same, eaten by a now contained fig tree Boule de Neige - to replace a sickly La Rose de Molinard (another, because I love it) Stormy Weather - to replace a to-be-potted Ebb Tide Blue for You - OK I’m still working out what will go to make room for this one!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I’ve just registered and put an order for 14 roses on TCL, and I want you to know that’s all your fault, folks!
Unfortunately, Forever Royal and Wild Rover were both sold out, so I bought Night Owl and Midnight Blue instead.
So, take a look at what I ordered and acknowledge yourself guilty based on the rose pictures you posted, lol
Blue For YouÂ
Love SongÂ
Midnight BlueÂ
Night OwlÂ
Purple LodgeÂ
Reine des ViolettesÂ
Rhapsody in BlueÂ
Royal CelebrationÂ
SoulÂ
Thomas a BecketÂ
Kew GardensÂ
The Poet's WifeÂ
Tottering by GentleÂ
Absolutely Fabulous (Julia Child)
I don’t know any of these roses and never saw one in real life, let’s hope to find them all a place. Now I go and study their dimensions and decide where to plant each one.
Thank you for the info, @pitter-patter! Your Harlow Carr standard is gorgeous (as is everything else in your garden) and HC is definitely on my shortlist.Â
Same here, @Imprevu. 🤯 Yay Boule de Neige @Nollie! My absolute favourite rose.
The octopus Gertrude J trio out the front keep blooming cheerfully... Wonder if I can put an obelisk in the middle of them and escape with any skin?🤔
A few photos from me before I go to work: Lambada, a recent acquisition. I love orange/coral coloured roses. Jude the obscure, the scent is divine. Vanessa Bell - smaller flowers in the second flush. Mum in a million - a gift from my sons. It's a bit mildewed due to my lapses in watering. I'll prune the affected canes soon.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
