@Athelas
Thank you for the detailed reply and information on those roses, much appreciated, lovely pics too, especially of your Roald Dahl which was probably my favourite yesterday.Â
@Eustace
I think I definitely need to get Desdemona, it has been recommended by @Marlorena too and I have quite a few white roses so a good one to join those. I like the idea of a more upright rose, so that’s great to know that Vanessa Bell is.Â
Thanks @Eustace, I think I got lucky with selecting some hard working roses for the front.
@Rojas, my preferred watering method is to let a large trug constantly fill and then I go back and forth with a tub which I fill by dunking into the trug. It means I don't have to waste time waiting for it to fill and if I time the flow right I don't waste any water. It is still time consuming though and I sometimes split the garden into three watering sessions. I think others on here have more efficient methods using ready laid out and soaker hoses.
Your Margaret Merrill looks so healthy and pretty, @Veilchenblau.
Had time to inspect a lot of things today. No signs of rebloom being imminent/likely on Perennial Blue, but there are two exciting buds on my tiny wee Armada from bareroot. I'll take it!
@Rojas@Victoria Sponge I used to use the watering can when I had a few potted roses in the front. I have to carry water through the hallway as the outside tap is in the back. This year, I have a 50m non-kink lightweight hose, brand armadillo, which has eased the pain quite a lot. I water only once a week during the weekend, that too only in the summer. This year has been quite bad with no significant rain since April. Rest of the week the plants have to survive with the water from a small terracotta pot which are placed in every pot. HTH.

@Victoria Sponge - RE water, my front water butt is low because I hadn’t realised the inlet had gotten blocked up! But otherwise ok.
I only water the pots and a couple of plants that I’ve recently planted. Everything else has to fend for itself and garden looks fine. Glad I did that mulch this year, think that’s made a huge difference.
We’re fortunate though that we have had some rain. Wildlife pond is getting incredibly low though and I’ve not got enough water at the plot to really top it up in any meaningful way.
Hope you’re all coping with the heat. Glad you’re feeling better @Marlorena My climbers are starting to make me feel tempted to downsize! Mainly Ghislaine as she’s just so awkward to access.Â

Got the focus all wrong on this, that’s why I’ve drawn on it, but Eustacia Vye is finally starting to grow!
Lovely photos, enjoyed them all with my morning coffee.Â
For watering water butts finished ages ago. I am watering pots once a week and garden borders once in two weeks. Pots with watering cans because I sort of know how much to put and no excess runs off the drainage holes. I have two large 14liter cans so while I am pouring one the other one fills and doesn't run off. Borders I did with hose, putting at roots of roses while one round I deadheaded with the process. Next two times I weeded with the process. Don't know what will I do next time because there are no weeds and nothing to deadheaded.
Everything is a bit dormant. Hope it rains.Â
I had moved all pots in shade under the tree, near wall or in side access.
On plus side there is very little blackspots this year probably because of dry weather. And I am thankful to all the trees for shade in and around my garden. Nothing is in full sun except the lawn which is dry and crispy.Â

Here is another one (Korresia) to cheer you all this Monday morning. Have a great week ahead 😊.
