And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I think you and Julia will be very happy together @dabolem!

I’ve not been wowed by all the new Delbard roses I’ve tried @WhereAreMySecateurs, many are ‘modern hybrid tea’ in character, even when they class them as a floribunda or shrub, with a high ratio of bush to bloom. So far Folle de Courtisane is like that and ‘ground cover’ rose Avalanche Abricot is stiff and awkward in habit and more a reluctant drizzle than an avalanche. Souvenir de Marcel Proust is the oldest cultivar and by far the most impressive of the three. I reckon those offered by Trevor White are probably a good bet, as they’ve doubtless picked the best of the bunch.

Massive and prolonged rainstorm again yesterday evening - OK, enough for now! I’m trying to paint and erect a section of fence but keep getting rained off.

Since the very hot weather, the generous gardener in my parents garden has been turning yellow and looking awful.
    What should I do?

@Ffoxglove , Give it buckets of water, at least 3 per week, slowly poured so it sinks in.

Yes, don't feed it, just loads of water until the rains return.
