@WhereAreMySecateurs Sombreuil (aka Colonial White) is not a pure Tea rose as it is usually described, but a hybrid of some sort - interesting debate on HMF and other rose forums on it’s origins - is a fantasy rose of mine. It prefers a Med climate with dry summers from what I can gather. @Marlorena tried it last year I think, was it bad browning of blooms, balling in rain or both Marlorena? I recall you weren’t massively impressed..
That’s reminded me though, I can get Mlle. Sombreuil (no relation) from France, which is another white rose possibility.. but probably safer to stick with BdN.
Hope your Anniversary Rose picks up. I had rust for the first time on a new bourbon this year. I kept picking off and disposing of the affected leaves and gave it a tonne of water and it seems to have recovered.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Flower Carpet Pink only started flowering last week. I like the colour gradation between old and new blooms. Leaves are ridiculously healthy, super floriferous, just no fragrance.
Very hot again here. Sprinkle of rain. Orienta alladin, the new climber opened today. Bud was attacked by aphids so blooms a bit scruffy. Will be good once it gets going though! Leaves are so shiny. Its feet are shaded. Fabulous from styles, lovely toned petals. Rosa des cistertiens. I noticed its different this year too, mines been very pale yellow barely any pink until the new buds this week as you can see! Lavender Ice. Lovely little Renaissance rose, underplanted under Sweet syrie and quite content there. Westerland Dainty Bess, the spiky siren. Nostalgia, lovely in a pot.
..yes @Nollie 'Sombreuil' didn't last long here as I was put off by the buds turning brown in rain, but I'm sure it's lovely during long dry spells, I wouldn't want to put anyone off. It's also very thorny..
@Marlorena. You certainly know your roses! This one you thought could be Princess Anne and I have found the label and it is a DA Princess Anne. Didn't know I had it to be honest. Thank you.Â
