I'll just be glad when it's over, I'd hate to be ill in these conditions..
To be honest, if we're getting this every year, and I've had similar temps in 2018, and 2019, it's enough to make me feel like moving far north, somewhere like Berwick Upon Tweed...
@dabolem Etoile is a big and boisterous climber. Mine is up to about six metres and shows no signs of slowing. I'm away at the minute, back at the end of the week. It will be interesting to see how all the reds have held up in the heat.
Tell me about it @Marlorena 🤒🥵 I've just sent the poor hubby for a nap in our slightly cooler bedroom as we have hit 40° The curtains haven't been drawn for two days, and there is a fan in every room. Bring on the thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow! We NEED the rain!
A week ago I asked for recommendations for a new rose to replace one that I had in half a barrel outside the back door. I didn't like the form plus blackspot 2 years running. Sweet Parfum de Provance was one that I liked the sound of from 2 members and ordered it from Eastcroft Roses after they too recommended that one. It arrived today after being in transit during 2 record breaking days of high heat and it's in perfect condition and has lots of buds ready to hopefully delight me.

I have been keeping the curtains down with open windows. Also hung sheets on the large glass doors of kitchen diner.
Incredible that parts of the UK are hotter than here! We’re at 39c tho the hot winds make it feel a lot worse than that. As much as I hate being stuck indoors, I’m grateful for the thick stone walls, stone floors and shutters which is keeping the indoor temperatures bearable.
Meagre pickings in the garden, but at least The Prince is giving a splash of colour despite the blooms suffering:
I think Lady Hillingdon may get my rose of the year award despite being a brand newbie. The shrub is a bit lanky, but that’s to be expected at this stage and I look forward to see what it can do in future. The blooms may be bleached out but they are fragrant and lasting really well in the heat with minimal shrinkage:
My new Delbard Souvenir de Marcel Proust also looks promising. Again, the blooms are a little bleached, but coping with the heat admirably and some are nearly 5” across.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

The bare earth in my garden is too hot to walk on
My plants are coping better than me today. I am not a sunny day person really.

Just ordered Emily Bronte and PAoK on the understanding the ground might be slightly damp at some point in the coming months. (Code HCP22)

Thank you to @WhereAreMySecateurs and @Marlorena and to Eastcroft Roses for a super plant and good service.
For anyone on Instagram, there's a competition to win a metal garden arch and two Rural England rambling roses.
