I feel the series as started off really well this year - I don't really find myself fast-forwarding past any sections, which is always a good sign.  Looking forward to Beechgrove starting this weekend as well, so I'll get a double-fix of gardening telly.

I must be very easy to get along with … I don’t have a problem with any of them … well, AT is a bit full of himself nowadays, but he still knows enough of the basics to be worth listening to.

Carol's accent is Lancashire, not Scouse!
As far as I can see, I'm the only person to have mentioned a Scouse accent and I didn't accuse Carol of having one.

Someone did @KT53 and said they didn't like it.

I know AT is still a font of wisdom @Dovefromabove but I feel very uncomfortable with all the smarm.

Someone I know who met him said that if you don’t go all ‘girly’ when he starts the smarm he soon stops ‘performing’ and behaves like a reasonable human being. It’s just that reputation he got for being a charmer and he tries to live up to it. 🙄

He doesn't need to @Dovefromabove .   His knowledge, success and career path make him immensely worthy of respect and his casual manner of sharing his expertise was already charming so no need to lay it on with a trowel.

I know, but its what sometimes happens when folk get told they’re a charmer or whatever … they become so conscious of their reputation for charm that they ham it up … the same thing happened with Paul Hollywood … for the first season or two of GBBO he behaved naturally and was seen to have ‘natural charm’.  Then he began to believe his own publicity and became the odious creature he is now. 😠

  • I follow a number of presenters on Twitter.. because its a platform where they don't have to 'present' or stick to a script you often discover the real person behind the personality...for good & bad.

We have a friend who is a freelance ‘Brand Consultant’ … part of her job is to manage the Twitter accounts of quite a few of the personalities we all see on tv, and to Tweet on their behalf using their Twitter accounts 🤐

That may explain why the personality of the Tweeter is sometimes quite different to the personality of the ‘Personality’ … if you get my drift 😉
