@WhereAreMySecateurs Monty's piece of wood for flattening and compressing compost is not at all fancy. Just cut a piece of ply or plank to the size of your compost trays and glue or screw on a strip of wood for a handle and Voilà! Doesn't work with cell trays tho.

@punkdoc Geoff H used to have one for his polystyrene cell trays back in the day. I always thought it was wonderful but never saw one on sale in or near Harrow or when we moved to Belgium.

Really good show tonight. We actually stayed awake & attentive the whole way through. But what the heck does Monty think he looks like in those 'new' outfits? I'm tempted to suggest a newly emerged cross-dresser

We saw nothing to suggest cross-dressing at all 😵💫.
We did see and remarked on his combining a yellowish jacket with a blue scarf … many folk are choosing to wear blue with yellow at the moment.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Monty is well know for his blue scrafs and is seen wearing them in most of his programs, I just thought how cold it must have been he did look very wrapped up.
I was pleased to see I have all the plants he was planting in his bog garden, mine are in my jungle area, I'd add a gunnera though they aren't for all people he definitely has the room. His marsh marigolds were looking great, ours have self seeded and we have lots now so hopefully a good display soon
He'll be chasing that Darmera all over the place in a year or two! Mine was well behaved when planted on the drier side of 'boggy', but when I planted a bit in a really boggy place, it took off and spread really fast over a large area
