Afternoon folks, and Happy Birthday to @didyw - hope you got a bright pink wheelbarrow presie!
We've had flurries of snow and it's very cold so haven't done much today, although I must do some ironing in a minute. Just texted some friends who are coming to stay soon and they've both had Covid. Hope you little grandson bounces back @Hostafan1. My son had to work in his London office today and wasn't looking forward to a busy office. He'll wear a ask on the Tube.
Golly, just looked up and out the window, we've got a proper snow storm suddenly, just as well OH has just got the bins in.
We have had several flurries of snow through the day, none as bad as the first one this morning, and none has settled. Its been quite sunny so behind the glass it's very pleasant but go outside and it's a different story. We have just spent the last hour trying to make sense of these roadworks starting tomorrow, I had a moan on the curmudgeon thread already, a few days ago. Basically it's going to be hell all summer.Â
Jolly cold here too and a penetrating wind to make it feel even worse.  All 3 chooks were snuggling up in the polytunnel when I went down to give their daily meds just now. This morning they were tucked up in an open top compost bin behind the polytunnel and under the mimosa. Clever chooks.
Weekly shop was a bit frustrating.  Same SM but different town so the layout is all wrong and they had no flour other other than nasty white refined stuff.  No wholemeal, no spelt and no cornmeal for a gluten free loaf I need to make next week.
Set to stay cool here for the next few days and not get above double figures till Tuesday at the earliest.  However, OH and I both have a free day tomorrow so we'll get the polytunnel sorted out and treated with diatomaceous earth and have another good clean of the hen house and pen before tackling other beds and paths in the potager.  Plant fair at the weekend with, I hope, Tomato Man and all his luscious unusual varieties and I want to get the ones I buy planted early and sheltered for rapid growth.
Poor bairn @Hostafan1 but at least he's young enough not to remember it later on. Hope he's OK and his parents too.
Not a lot of mask wearing at the SM today @Lizzie27 but they're still required here on public transport and in medical establishments and retirement homes.Â
No @tui34. Don't watch French news tho I do read it online sometimes. I don't use sunflower oil or ordinary white flour. Pasta is always wholemeal so fingers crossed we'll be OK for that.
I might just check my stocks of olive and colza/rapeseed oils just in case and i'd better keep an eye out for my bread flours. No wonder there was no flour today, let alone specials.
Morning everyone. Darned cold here this morning. Pixel poked her nose out and turned right back. I think the wood heater might get used today. It’s usually Anzac Day before we use it, but 1st April’s a first experience for us.  Might be a cold winter this year.Â
